Excellent stuff as ever, Bruce. Some Scottish folk might disagree with an Englishman, but my view is that the working classes of both Scotland and England have been treated like crap over the centuries. We only have what we have now because people have fought for it.

How it grieves me, Mr. Fummey, that this is happening today. I, too, see this as the way things are trending, and fear that the last beheading on British soil will soon not be the LAST beheading on British soil. Because the powerful think that "rights" are what the strong give to the weak, and if they are opposed, they often feel that bloody constraint is what must follows. The trend you speak of is happening across the ocean, as well. Because the powerful are the same everywhere.

Wow. I wish every history teacher would make history as personal and immediate as you. I can't think of more than a handful of the people I know who see themselves as part of the ongoing history of us, or ask themselves important questions such as 'how bad could this be' and 'is this forward or backward". You could write a bestselling book, but it would be far more effective to have a Netflix or Amazon series, with the promotion your messages need. There's a difference between learning history and learning to participate in History because you can use the lessons our past can teach everyone. Each day I feel we're further from being able to recover the progress someone else paid so dearly to accomplish. Thanks.

We just have to have the guts to say, "hey, that's crazy and hurtful!" But have to follow up with why we think so. As an artist and a commissioner for the arts in my community, I find that I’m always interested in street art. We have many gorgeous ones locally as well. They all have meaning. Some historical, some depict modern relative issues, some to highlight an amazing event or person (s). My questions are… do you have many murals in Scotland? If so, are there intersting stories about Scotland represented in those artworks? What are they? I’d love to know! My daughter is in the middle of a semester at the University of Edinburgh. Shortly to take a weeks break and travel about. I think I will charge her with the task of showing momma some more art! I’ve seen some cute things from right around the dorms already. We Scots have have a long and past history of injustice, justice and why a lot is wrong in the world today. I will be following your other productions and will add to this your input and mine to my grand children the ethos and values, which are so much needed today. So many other peoples of the world require respite in abundance from the despots, autocrats and others. history is so relevant ta all despite our backgrounds from Christians ,Muslims, Buddhist or any other and we must embrace the past positively to go forward. to many lives have been lost and still are today due to greed, religion and racism and other factors. I am a Scottish nationalist, but can respect others view, I look at northern Ireland which itself requires a remedy but has the past of English domination hanging over it. the English people themselves are also honest decent and like us, but unable to carve their identity due to other factors of politics, fear of being castigated etc... history is amazing and can and should be a big factor in education without distorting the facts, well done Bruce.
