Be there as well aye outwith a few heart in mouth moments we were pretty solid at the back.Shows you the difference Hanley makes to the team.Times when I thought we should have upped the tempo of our passing in the second half.Its three points though and considering who we were missing its a really good three points.Snodgrass would have made a difference I reckon with his power pace skill and crossing.

This was the peak of the Scottish national team since the McFadden days before the start of the decade. Playing decent football and results coming with it, we were well in the fight for that group during the first half. And then as usual we bottled it away to teams like Georgia and now you’d be lucky to find 30 thousand fans in hampden such is how little people care about the team now. It’s a massive shame.

***** Mate they play in the premier league unlike half of the Republic's team. Furthermore NI played a higher standard of football throughout their qualifying campaign, hence why the topped their group. Also don't forget the likes of James McClean, Darron Gibson and Marc Wilson were born in Northern Ireland. I support the Republic but the reason we've qualified for this tournament isn't because of the players we have, it's our management team. As far as our current crop of players go I think this is the worst team to have ever qualified for a tournament. The only reason we have actually qualified is because they've let more teams into this years Euros, otherwise it would have been another failed qualification campaign.

***** We were lucky to beat Georgia away I recall. Yes, Germany and Poland were tough, but at the same time I thought Germany were a bit flat after the World Cup. We did play great stuff against Poland at home but still only came out with a draw, and we weren't convincing away. Both performances against Bosnia were great though. However.... I watch NI play and they actually have a very positive style. That combined with their robust unit makes them quite formidable. I think we beat Germany with a more with a conservative attitude, and it worked, but a player like Davis in midfield would help us be a little more dynamic and positive. Same goes for Hoolahan, but it's his first time being a prominent Irish player and he's well into his 30s, which is a disgrace on Trapattoni's part. And let's not forget that against Scotland, we came out worst with our style of play. It took something remarkable to gain qualification, as well as a failure on Scotland's part against Georgia, and a last minute winner from Lewandowski against Poland. But more to the point, I don't know how you can call Davis a shite player. He's played consistently well for Southampton this season, he is a good player. Cathcart has done well for Watford as well. Jonny Evans has always been a good player, perhaps just not consistently solid, but he's got good game for a Centre Back, and he's improved. I'd take a few of NI's players over ours any day, it would enhance the overall team, especially with more players used to premier league football. And like I said, an all-Ireland team would still involve players like McClean and Gibson who opted for the Republic. So lets not insult our neighbours with a sense of arrogance. We're both huge minnows in the context of the actual tournament. NI to be fair to your point need tested against a higher standard opposition, but I have a feeling they will surprise the skeptics.

To paint a very black and white picture of it, it goes... England hates everyone and everyone else shares a mutual hatred of the English together. This idea mainly comes from history. For instance, what Scotland, Wales and Ireland have in common is they all share the Celtic gene together, whereas the English come from a Saxon/Norman type. Yet, there has been enough gene-mixing in that time since the Saxons/Normans first arrived in Britain till now. It is moreover the fact that SW&I have been invaded and ruled by England with SW and a piece of Ireland still under that rule which is generally why everyone hates England and England hates everyone else. SW&I hate E for E ruling them and E hates SW&I because they hate E. You can see a video on here with Irish and Scottish football fans from about 2 years ago now singing at each other and having a laugh about it 'we hate England more than you' on the streets before the game. Don't let that confuse you though because in reality, all countries get along well enough with each other today where you can go anywhere you want.

I think 4-1 is a much more likely result in Scotland's favour. When you compare Scotland v Ireland - a brutal toe-to-toe settled by an amazing goal which was actually fairly representative of the creative cleverness that Scotland is now showing; with the insipid, lifeless "we only wake up when someone scores against us" of England v Slovenia ... ... well - Scotland will win easily. England are a collection of talented players who can't be bothered - Scotland have been galvanised into a proper team, even though many of them aren't the best technically.
