Scotrail HST Power Cars 43033 & 43148 - Loughborough to Craigentinny (0S04) - Newcastle 13th Feb 18

Scotrail HST 125 Power Cars Nos. 43033 and 43148 pass Newcastle Central in their new livery en route from Loughborough Brush Works to Craigentinny T&R.S.M.D on 13th February 2018.
The will be used in the future on services serving 7 major cities in Scotland, replacing the duties of DMUs current working on the routes.
The second clip shows GBRf class 66 diesel loco No. 66724 hauling a MK2 coach through Central Station on a move from Craigentinny T&R.S.M.D to Burton OT Wetmore Sidings (5Z47).

Interesting catch is that, Allan. Do you know to what routes these old ladies will be consigned?

Thanks Allan. After driver training the first route served will Aberdeen I believe, i assume from Edinburgh and/or Glasgow. After a while once they have all the HSTs available all 7 major Scottish cities will be served by the HSTs on the primary routes. Regards - Allan.

Not too sure about the livery from a distance. At 0:40 it looks as if the wrap has peeled away leaving a bit of blue at the front side of the power car. Just my opinion.

Very annoyed by Scotrail. 4 and 5 car HST's by their logic is a massive increase in capacity to 6 car 170's. Replacing newer trains with older, more unreliable ones that are hardly going to get up to high speed on the North Eastern routes they will be used on. Meanwhile, for the hell of it, the Central belt gets yet another set of brand new 7 car trains which it doesn't need at all.

If the capacity is to decrease and the frequency of the the trains in the new timetables has not been increased I agree it will not be a good situation for passengers. The HSTs are indeed older as you say but are very reliable trains indeed. It's unfortunate that train stock north of Birmingham and the South is mainly cascaded stock from other rail companies that is some years old. Investment needs to be better in transport for the North and Scotland and that is obvious living on Tyneside as I do and riding about on 40 year old Pacer trains. Thanks for your comments.
