FYI: with the bearing shell bolts you can pick up equivalent hex-head bolts from Repco (Champion brand) that do the trick - I did this with mine as one of the original bolts snapped in half when I removed it. You can get OEM-style ones from the Scott Bonnar Restorations FB page from Cameron, who sells replacement bolt kits

Cameron Petrie's bolt kits are amazing! I replaced most of the fasteners on this machine with his stainless kit in the end (please stand by for the upcoming rebuild series). Good tip about the hex bolts from Repco--didn't know they sold bolts!

Cannot for the life of me get my bearing housing screws off. Any tips? Have tried an impact driver and am thinking next step may be an impact drill. Just can’t get any of the four moving.

LukeJTav assuming you've tried getting some penetrating oil in there and let it soak? Tried turning in the opposite direction too (just slightly)? Gotta be careful with the straight screw heads and alloy housings!

Love Larn in terms of penetrating, are we talking WD40 or something else?

I've had a lot of success with WD40 in combination with a 3-in-1 type oil (just the little bottle from Bunnings). I believe there's a tiny bit of rust converter in the WD (maybe not?) to help break any rust bond and the 3 in 1 seems to just help a bit more somehow

Not sure how you'd go with a bit of heat on the alloy but maybe worth looking into that option too

When is the rebuild series coming?
@LoveLarn5 жыл бұрын
Hi Ben, thanks for watching! Should be on to the rebuild series in the next couple of weeks (but I wouldn't wait for me as I'm pretty slow editing). The rebuild footage is complete though so let me know if you're after something specific 🎬
