he's a "low talker" as one of my vocal instructors called it, meaning he regularly speaks at the very bottom of his vocal range. you can tell he's a tenor from how bright his voice sounds even when he's down in that range (a baritone or bass would sound much fuller and deeper than he sounds). He's actually singing most of this song at pretty standard tenor middle voice ranges, that's why it sounds so easy for him, because it IS easy for him. The reason you think it's so much higher than it actually is is because he's adding in a LOT of nasality to massively brighten the tone (like how a flute and a bass playing the same note would sound MASSIVELY different even though it's the same note) because, obviously, he's singing as the character Steve Smith and not as himself.
