You read Bret's book and LIKED him afterwards? I was a fan of Bret and decided kind of on a lark to give his book a read...and I was appalled. He came across like a delusional, arrogant, egotistical bastard. He was just so in absolute love with himself it was disgusting.

@MikeDesadario Yes it is. Having a wall, or even a room in your house devoted to your accomplisments...fine. Having a massive portrait above your bed where the first thing you see when u wake up is yourself in a Sgt Pepper jacket is plain creepy. You would think there'd be less pictures of Bret with his eagle belt, and more with him and Owen, him and Stu, him & the bulldogs, his family and friends. But as Scott Hall said, Bret is a different cat than most people.

On June 13, 1971, Ox and his partner the Claw were wrestling in a AWA Midwest Tag Team Championship tag team match against Alberto Torres and his partner Cowboy Bob Ellis in Verdigre, Nebraska. Torres was injured during the match and died three days later. Though evidence indicated that Torres died of a ruptured appendix, Baker's Heart Punch was blamed and, though by his own account Baker was privately distraught over the death, he did "work" it as though he had killed Torres.

yes he's very straight talking about the people he liked and didn't, or the people he felt deserved their praise and the ones who were riding on others coattails. But he's got the know how to judge on that kind of thing and he's hardly the stiffest wrestler I've ever seen, he gives praise to those who were good and he has many funny stories and kind things to say about wrestlers as well as the negative ones, his HOF speech was almost entirely taken up with tales of other people he worked with.

@shawnvillain In an RF shoot interview, he openly admitted that he is an insecure person and he thought of himself less than what other people did. Shawn also mentions it in his book. SM said Nash & he were talking about a spot where Nash was gonna leapfrog Michaels. Hall butted in & said, "Diesel is the biggest guy in the company. Why would he avoid contact? But what do I know, I'm just a big dummy." Said they spent the next hour trying to convince Hall that he was right and he wasn't a dummy.

Hall should not talk he is a mark for himself. Its almost sad to watch him in the DDP KZbin vids. The guy walks around with a toothpick hanging out of his mouth still thinking he's fucking Razor Ramon. He also refers to things around the house as "gimmicks". Scott doesn't need any wrestling pictures on the wall because he's his wrestling persona in person. I mean come on he still has the toothpick that was a gimmick. Scott Hall the guy never walked around with a tooth pick it was an idea DDP had while he was the Diamond Studd. At least Bret Hart can separate the two and doesn't walk around his house in fucking Hitman sunglasses.

Jason Colbeck True outside the ring he was himself, but I heard some shit that while in the ring and backstage, he straight up believed he couldnt be beat and was really taggin guys with those mma gloves he wore cause he didnt feel it. I think the worst mark for their own character is probably Hulk Hogan, and thats only because Hulk is Hulk, Terry died a long long time ago. Hes straight up incognito with the Hulkster, and I love it. Brother.

True, sad but true. I read his book hoping to take his side on the whole Montreal thing, but after getting halfway through I was so disgusted with him and his self-centered attitude and his cheating on his wife while she was pregnant I gave it back. Finished it later, and felt bad for all he went through with his stroke and family and all, but it's convinced me he's a terrible person who thinks he's a god.

Any athlete who has traveled the world many times over should keep all of their Merchandise for memory sake. @ElWiiTard If I were Hulk, I'd sue too. I saw that commercial one morning before Hulk filed the lawsuit & the first thought that entered my head was, "That's meant to be Hulk Hogan." If that's what the company intended, then that company knowingly used Hulks likeness without his permission. In order for it to be "Fair Use," the wrestler in the commercial would have to have features not exclusive to the Hulk Hogan character..ie, tights, muscles, or any feature that any other wrestler may have

Baker is noted for having 2 men die during or after a match with him - one died after a match of a pancreas problem and the other should never have been in the ring to begin with. Although some historians lay claim to the Heart (Hurt) Punch - That has never been documented or proven. I like the bored 'em to death factor, though.

To hear this isn't a surprise cause I think most people know just how serious Bret was about his Hitman character and wrestling in general. I just wouldn't have brought that up publicly.

@DjFreshpac good point. but i just mean i don't feel comfortable simply taking hart's word for it when he is telling a story about a guy he doesn't like. he says he lost his last bit of respect for hall when he saw that incident with that kid. it's more likely that he never offered his respect for hall because he saw him as a threat. thinking he is too good does not seem to be a problem of hall's. i know people who said they met hall... some said he's an ass... some said he's fantastic

@DjFreshpac i always liked bret's ring work... he's one of the greats... in his era, i'd say no one could touch him, save shawn michaels and randy savage. as for character, i'd say hall is ahead of bret. he got over huge in the two top companies without anything near the push hart got. if you mean personal character, i guess it depends on what you are looking for. bret was always dedicated to his profession... in terms of an employee, bret is more dependable.

I could go on for a long time about this book, but I'll just say when he was in India and all those kids were cheering for him, the way he writes it...he not only believes all his own hype, but he wrote about how they cheered him and worshiped him like a god, and I think he beleived it himself. Are you telling me you wouldn't have all of them, and on display, especially since they were all new at the time? I wonder on a left field point, since wrestling seems to be so different in Japan as it's considered more of a sport over there, handing out trophies and presents left and right after you've won a hard fought championship match, would we be justified to say those guys are huge marks for themselves? Maybe Bret would have been more taken serious over there if that's where he spent most of his career. Since it's just a SHOW here, even though people are crippled or dead today from wrestling.

i believe Scott, it's common knowledge that Bret was a huge mark for himself, took himself and wrestling too seriously, pretty much thought wrestling was real and he really ''won'' championships, no surprise his house is full of his stuff and belts.

I think all wrestlers have to be somewhat of a mark for themselves I mean how is anyone supposed to take them seriously, if they're not serious about themselves and what they do. They need to be able to convince people that they are worth it. So yes Bret probably is somewhat full of himself when it comes to the wrestling art but he's not just running on a solely high opinion of himself, but also others who think or feel they had their best matches with him.

@NiceVideos11 Bret and Shawn, from many sources, were not good people in the 90's. The difference in their character flaws was that Shawn never seemed to deny he was an asshole. He did jobs when needed and yes he probably protested them but it was Vince's final say. Bret still, to me, has this opinion of himself as a fucking saint. Bret had creative control over his contract and used it just like Hogan and Austin had, I feel Bret let his own "pro wrestling character" get to his head.

I will agree with some of you guys. 1) Triple H doesn't know talent! Back in the day WWE would pick gems that WCW dropped-Jericho, Austin, Benoit, Guerrero, etc...now it's the opposite. At the same time, the business was different then. Those heels in the 80s knew they weren't going over Hogan. That's just how things worked, they were just happy that they got a Hogan-match paycheck. But if I could change things, I'd have had Hogan lose to Andre, Savage beat Andre, beat Hogan at WM 5, then have Hogan win the belt back at 6 (fuck the Warrior). However, Hogan was a great "worker". It's not about how technical you are, it's about how well you engage the audience.

@DjFreshpac as far as a friend... i can only say from what i have listened to and read about... but hands down, i'd take hall. he seems to have a good heart and would give the shirt off his back to someone in need without expecting anything in return. bret seems too busy making a big deal of himself. i'm sure bret would like to think that hall read his book, but i doubt that he did. i'm not saying hall was not an ass to a fan... i'm just saying bret probably took liberties to exaggerate.

You can say Bret was a better in ring worker for sure but Scott hall was Damn good also, and when it comes to promos and charisma Scott hall wins that battle. But to say Scott hall was as dedicated to the business as Bret would be incorrect, Bret Hart was champion because people loved the hit man there is no doubt about that, I seen where someone said "Bret needed the championship to get over" but that's not the way it works. The crowd will let you know who they want their champion to be, that's how a champion is made not The other way around. Bret Hart was a great wrestler/in ring worker. But Scott hall portrayed the razor Ramon character perfectly. So when it's all said and done Bret was the better wrestler but Scott hall was the better entertainer. When razor walked out of the curtain he was razor until he walked back through the curtain. You could really believe he was razor Ramon because he was that good at portraying his character. And when Bret Hart was in the ring wrestling no one could touch his in ring work except the show stopper Shawn Michaels
