The fact that this was secretly a sequel/B side to the Scott Pilgrim story took me entirely by surprise and I LOVE it. Would I have liked a series adapting the comic? Yeah… but also, I always wanted to be able to explore the characters from a non-Scott perspective, and in that regard this show delivered in heaps. Other than Envy and Knives, they all get a lot of fun stuff to do
@CrowTRobot Жыл бұрын
I LOVE it but it’s also a double-edged sword because it should not be watched by someone who hasn’t read the comic or AT LEAST seen the movie.
@thatrandomrobot Жыл бұрын
@@CrowTRobot I am now acutely aware of that. My sibling, who I had told like 2 months ago “sure, you can watch the show without watching the movie! It seems to be adapting more comic book stuff” just sent me the most confused message I have ever read… so yes, you are correct. One of the main things there was “don’t get me wrong, I liked it… but I feel like I must’ve missed something”. I had to send them a very apologetic message and they’re now watching the movie

I'm really glad i thought that it was a sequel of Scott pilgrim, also when i first saw that this was getting famous i decided to myself that I'd watch all movies of Scott pilgrim, which there was only one so that worked out for me, cause even though i knew NOTHING from scott pilgrim i kinda just wanted to be more apart of the world and that worked great

I’ve seen many people disappointed that it wasn’t just a straight adaptation of the comic and movie but I actually preferred what they did. I didn’t really want another version of the same story I’ve known for years. I’m happy we got something new and different. I love these characters and I’m just happy to get a new story with them

I binged it last night. Loved it, it incorporates all its media of the comic, game, and film. I see it as a NG+ sequel to get the pefect ending run. Sure it doesn't go through an indepth development for Scott that the last 3 volumes did in making him realize how much of a womanizing PoS he is, but it was still fun. It was nice to get Ramona and her Exes some more development.

@lordgeneralmilitantdeezy7550 Yea, seeing a reflection of what he becomes is another way of development. Though I will say it's not as powerful as him confronting nega-Scott and realizing that his dark version isn't the problem.
@FED0RA Жыл бұрын
but some characters like lisa and envy get kinda forgotten (lisa only gets one cameo, and thats it) also scott pilgrim beating simon lee is different, in the animated series, the way scott remembers it is the one they use instead of it being just scott beating up kim's boyfriend

You can tell the animation studio watched everything from Trigger and just rolled with it! Envy's introduction felt like something Satsuki would have done in Kill la Kill.

I'm not gonna lie...I really enjoyed this animated series. And I was more than happy that they got the original cast to reprise their roles. The art style was very similar, if not completely similar, to the comics as well, which also really worked in its favor. And despite it being an alternate version to the graphic comics, and the movie...it was still very entertaining. I was glad to see more of the other characters and how much more demph they got, and make the league into something much more than pitiful exes who were trying to win back the heart of the girl who always ran away from making true connections. Almost everything worked for this project. It was good to see the complexity of the characters, and how they wanted to learn from their mistakes, and refused to let the past define them - especially Ramona, seeing how she realized and accepted that she made mistakes and how she was part of the problem; and allowed herself to become better. But I am disappointed that we got to see a lot less of Scott Pilgrim...despite him being the supposed main character. And some changes I didn't really care for...like Todd Ingram suddenly having an obsession with Wallace Wells, despite the latter not being into him - it just didn't really fit into the story (in my opinion). Also, Wallace found someone else in the last episode. I would have maybe had Todd and Envy Adams seem like there was a chance for them to get back together, and maybe try to become better people. Also, the battle between Old Scott Pilgrim and the others...I would have liked to see it last just a little longer. Plus, I will admit that the chemistry between Scott and Ramona could have been focused on a little more, 'cause they fell in love a bit too quickly. So it would have helped if the first and last episode of the season were closer to thirty minutes. And maybe the series could have been just a bit more "mature". However, I will say that the voice acting...did come off as weak at times. That being said, I am very hopeful for a second season to be in the works.

definitely a big rug pull, at the end of the series I enjoyed it but I must admit I struggled to shake off the whiplash of realising that this is not gonna be a proper adaptation of the books as I had both hoped and been sold on by the trailers
@nicolasgarant9124 Жыл бұрын
To be fair, Bryan Lee O'Malley did say in interviews that this was not going to be a 1:1 adaptation. So that helped me come to terms to realize their whole idea was to make the rug pull that much more effective. Plus after the movie, he was pretty done with the property, so it makes sense he'd only come back to it if he gets to do something new with it.

We've seen the previous story told 3 times in 3 separate mediums. I didn't see this coming either, but I'm really happy with it. It was a huge gamble because if the writing/animation wasn't up to snuff it'd get slammed by fans, but the gamble 100% paid off. Think of it this way: instead of a reboot, you got a sequel!
