Good ear. Related - outside of AIC, Layne did some guest vocal work with a band called Second Coming that has similar funk vibes. Though this is far heavier than that track. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3SxgaxogrCNq7c

My favorite thing about these guys is the brotherly closeness they had with Scott. “I’m not one bit gay,” Scott said, nonchalantly, in an interview. He seemed to believe very much in human equality-particularly gender. It wasn’t unusual at all to see the guys lip kiss, as European cultures do, without it being a homosexual thing. Obviously this photo was an outtake never used...and I agree...not the coolest bunch of expressions or poses. But the fear of looking homosexual never entered their minds. It’s sort of a “and what if we were?” statement, and I think they enjoyed smashing through the barriers that divide and drive humans further away from humanity. Awkward shot, but always the coolest vibe. I cannot think more highly of them or love these guys any more than I do. I hope you all derive as much joy out of them as I do.

@@paulchick3007 How very insightful and very precisely worded. I always thought Weiland's androgynous ode to Bowie later was really cool and i got it but most guys who liked them during Core or Purple were like What a Queer!!! Yet guess they missed him in a dress and lipstick kissing Eric Kretz on the lips when playing sex type thing. Scott was always very accepting and cool with alot of people. On an episode of Howard Stern he was defending gays and he started off with "Everybody likes to fuck.... Or i hope they..... No thats not true. Theres some people who dont or dont like to fuck.." Its like he was like what theres asexual people and that's cool . and this was before they added it to the alphabet of fucking rights (lgbtqoanb now i know my abc's.. Not meaning to disrespect anyone that identifies with what those letters represent but it is a little crazy says my only friend and roommate who is gay but as he claims not like most queens.... I dont know what he means by that. Sorry for this .) But yes Scott Weiland and STP are awesome.

That’s what makes them awesome. Scott crushed so much p as well as dean and the boys. But Scott kissing dean on interstate love song video made people less homophobic. Just 2 dudes who care about each other.!
