So many successful bands loved ATDI at the time. Really cool to look at in retrospect.

That bit at the end about great art was very wise. Weiland was a smart man.

I kinda had a similar occurrence. In winter of 1999 , went to a Boston radio station , holiday concert.. At The Drive in were the opening band . I knew nothing of them. I just remember saying "holy fuck , these guys are INSANE" . I've never seen energy like that , on a stage, to this day .

Yeah, he said define, what you heard changes the entire meaning and makes it seem like some gatekeeper douchy statement.

@DjXxXHardKnight Before the reunion, At The Drive-In had like a perfect run of three good-amazing albums and one awesome ep. Hell even the reunion album and ep aren't terrible

Thank you so much for this. You just can't get a better endorsement than that from one of the greatest frontmen ever. I miss Scott Weiland so much.

I remember picking up Relationship of Command when it was out and that record got its hooks in me real good. ATDI was on tour in Europe at the time and I thought "I have to see these guys when they get back stateside!" Unfortunately, they decided to disband during that tour so I never got to see them live. And last year, I discovered Drive Like Jehu..... 30+ years too late 😕 DLJ was a big influence on ATDI and their first record is excellent stuff \m/

aha that is how I felt when I discovered DLJ a couple months ago. I heard Jim (atdis guitarplayer) talking about them on an interview somewhere on youtube.
