Georgia is moving forward with Carsen Beck as their starting QB, but their backup Brock Vandagriff is one of the most insane QBs in college football. He is one of the best QBs in Georgia High School football history, was a five star recruit and checks every single box, but he is still the backup. Dawgs schedule this year sets up a good opportunity for Brock to get some playing time. His one advantage over Beck is that he has the ability to extend plays as Stetson did and that's something Kirby puts a high value on.

Love to see the local kid win the job, have no doubt about that. But he needs to actually win it, which won't be easy, and he certainly hasn't done as of yet.

Beck can extend plays and avoid the rush as well. Much better athlete than he is given credit for. Can sling it on the run as we saw last year. Brock is a better runner but that doesn’t mean Beck is a statue. Beck is the better passer.

As a UK fan, really interesting to see this video now that he is transferring to UK. Despite his high school resume, I was kind of wondering if it wouldn't have been better to get someone who has more experience at QB at the college level even if his ceiling wasn't as high as Vandagriff (someone like Will Rodgers from Miss. St.). Sounds like just got beaten out in a narrow competition by another elite QB who had been in the system longer. Very excited to see what he can do at UK next year!

I think he is the safety net for Carson Beck. If Beck doesn't play well or is injured the job is Brock's. I also think next year he is the starter, Gunner Stockton transfer, Raiola is the back up, and Puglisi is the third string (red shirt).

Yes, Carson is capable and knows Kirby's play system. But i am also one of the minority who remains a bit skeptical until he runs up against a serious defense this season which he has not. I expect Kirby will give BV more snaps as the schedule intensifies. Riola will be a huge game changer for the Dawgs.

The only knock is his delivery is kinda slow. Takes a awhile to wheel that big arm around. Dude is accurate and can throw on the run. Also a cannon of an arm. Glad to see him at UK.

Beck processes faster than Stetson Bennett and Brock Vandagriff, thus he will be able to locate his targets and get the ball out more quickly. Carson Beck will not take very many sacks, plus he is more athletic than people give him credit. He led his high school baseball team in stolen bases. Carson Beck is the real deal

Fields found that out and walked away from competition. Kirby tells everyone they go after , at UGA you earn your spot and have to work to keep it. If you aren't willing to do the work and grind, maybe UGA isn't the place for you. Bear Alexander found that out. Now he's a superstar on a team with a leaky seive for a defense.

Brock hasn't even secured the QB2 role. He did okay in the spring game, and I remember when his team played Gunner Stockton's team in high school. I vividly remember saying, this Gunner kid is outplaying Brock. This is prior to Gunner eventually committing to UGA. As a UGA fan, my level of comfort and confidence with Carson is very high. Now when Carson leaves, I'm not as confident in Brock taking over the reigns.

When I first saw Brock Vandergriff play for Georgia when he did get playing time he mostly ran and I saw him run like his hair on fire if he keeps doing this and look to pass first instead of run he's going to get hurt and he will lose valuable time with learning to be an SEC Quarterback ok he will be a smart QB but read defenses first so he can change offenses if the defenses change ok.

I hope this young man stays. I am in the great minority who has doubts about Carson. Carson no matter what happens will always be a DGD. He has it all EXCEPT for quick feet. And none of the current QB's have proven to have Stetson's Large Brass Set. But then again players like Bennett come along SO rarely. I've said since day 1, why hasn't he played like the 5-star he was?? Wouldn't it stand to reason that if he did, it would sit everybody else down & there would be no question who the best is? Not hating on him AT ALL - would LOVE to see all our QBs get playing time. Other schools alternate QBs successfully, why can't we? That gives them game time experience when it matters - meaningful snaps. Some players either shine under pressure or crack. Herschel didn't impress the coaches during practices that much, but he flipped the switch at GAME-TIME! Ready for the season - 1 more week!! GO DAWGS!!

I think if we win the NCAA championship, I think Carson will come back and if that happens Brock will be in the portal. These days when you can get paid in college, plus the fact that college football on a great team is much more fun than pro football on an avg team. Brock does have an intriguing skill set but from everything I’ve heard over time , he’s just not a polished enough passer to see the field. To erratic and One thing you can’t do is turn the ball over. Maybe he hasn’t been able to shine as much as he would in a game at practice because the quarterback isn’t live so plays where things break down and the qb has to make a play aren’t easy to gauge. I’ve even heard that Gunnar Stockton has out played him at practice.

I don't care how good you are. You have to WORK at Georgia. The coach is obviously loyal.....Brock will see playing time this year. Little Ray might be all that but, he will be at GA next year and starting positions aren't handed out free.... Ray needs a couple of years... His time will come!
