While many are talking about the QB battle between Alex Orji and Jayden Denegal at Michigan, there is a freshman on the roster who is worth all the hype in the world. A few years ago, Jadyn Davis was a prodigy QB who had SEC offers in middle school and was the #1 player in his class. Throughout his next few years, he only dominated more, brought home more awards and became even better. Despite that, his ranking dropped and now he is super slept on. Today, I want to talk about Michigans future QB Jaydn Davis, his prodigy story and how good he could be for Michigan in the future, enjoy!

Jayden Davis was a back to back Mr. Football in the state of North Carolina his junior and senior year but somehow dropped after committing to Michigan. Makes total sense considering his stats never fell off. He literally fell in the rankings only because he committed to Michigan. They would of had him number 1 or 2 had he committed to the suckeyes, bama or Georgia.

He fell in the rankings simply because he committed to Michigan. All the ranking services are HEAVILY SEC biased, that’s why he went from top 3 QB in the class to barely top 10 the instant he made his commitment.

All Michigan recruits rankings go down when they commit. Donovan was a 5*, Keon Saab, Derrick Moore, jadyn, Marshall, etc. But who cares, as long as they are playing for Michigan. In the end, the talent makes it to the field. 〽️🏈💯💪🏾👑

@@1234MarioDuane That is why I'm always like "yeah sure" anytime they say something like "Michigan only has three 5 stars" when we are playing an OSU, or Alabama. Because often a good number of our 4 stars where 5 stars before they committed to Michigan. It is almost like players get punished ranking wise for committing to us.

He was the number 1 overall player at one time. They literally swapped out him and Raiola. Yes he's a true freshman but true freshman as of a couple of years ago are now allowed to join the team during bowl prep and get those extra 15 practice's + Michigan winning the national title gave him another week of practices Along with obviously being an early enrollee with the amount of reps this kid has had in high school I wouldn't be shocked if he was QB1 toward the end of year. Spring game will tell us a lot.

The only reason you didn't get a like from me on this video is because you state Jack Tuttle is "not really that good". I looked him up. Tuttle was a 4-Star prospect who struggled when he got thrown into the fire early on at Indiana. In the last two years as a backup (39 pass attempts), he has completed 82.2% of his passes for two TD's (zero INT's) and he had 35 yards on four carries for Michigan in 2023. He is more athletic than people think and he has the best resume for the job out of all the QB's on Michigan's roster.

The star rankings have been a joke for years. To be honest they really don’t mean that much coming out of high school. I think most Michigan fans "in the know" are pretty hyped on Jaydn Davis, but probably for the 2025 season more than 2024. Freshman-phenom QBs forced into the main role too early tend to explode in every direction and Michigan's coaches prefer a more methodical "complimentary football" approach. The hope for him in the 2024 season looks more like McCarthy's freshman year - where they have specialized packages tailored specifically to his strengths and get him in for 5ish real snaps per competitive game and they'll use other backups in mop-up duty to minimize injury risk. McCarthy had a lot of great highlight plays in 2021 and his package included other budding stars like Blake Corum and Roman Wilson - and the chemistry and comfort of that group really showed in big moments in 2023/2024. There's also a lot of talk that Michigan may be planning to use Orgi as a redzone/short yardage QB similar to Oklahoma's old "Belldozer" package or how Florida utilized a freshman Tebow - regardless of who the main starter is. Since no "heir-apparent" emerged last year, it's anyone's guess until they announce the roster in late August.

Well, a few things…. I really like Alex Orji and feel that Denegal has a place on the roster, but haven’t seen nearly enough to make an argument that he (or Orji) will be anything close to as good as JJ… but I highly doubt they will be better…. That would be GREAT for us if they were lol .. I think Orji has all the athleticism in the world and can be an excellent player for us, but we just dk how he handles the big games & heavy situations … I’d love to see him develop early on and do great things for us this year and allow Jadyn to familiarize himself with the speed of the game and understanding his receivers/etc. I think Jadyn will have a solid Soph season, and then breakout his JR year, and come back as a senior and win a Natty and Heisman! With Jordan Marshall right there as a Heisman RU. LFG!

Looks like a good kid, but we need three guys that can step in and play full time, and play well. One will transfer if he doesn't get to play a lot this upcoming season, that leaves two, one will get hurt, so we need at least three guys that can play well. I am hoping that Denegal turns out to be better than we expect because he was the forgotten player last season. We need him to step up and show that he can lead the team down the field for TDs because Alex and Jadyn are the favorites to win the battle. Three is the magic number.

The pressure on the kid will be immense. I hope he'll stick around long enough to be a starter, but with NIL, if he doesn't get the starting job quickly he may bolt to greener pastures. Goes with the territory in today's college football. I just hope he doesn't go to a rival and be a scourge against Michigan.

Yeah, well your analysis I don't necessarily agree with because the things you're basing it on are old school, I don't know how you can take a look at these quarterbacks which are drawn from a different School of thinking, and then superimpose drop back pastor metrics on them and just think that's going to work out... No, so I will assign you to the disappointment pool of a lot of teams out there that wish they had drafted the right guy but listen to Guys like You and missed a quarterback. Some of the stuff you're saying I can agree with get your overall perspective of where their talents should be going who is valuable against who is burgeoning as valuable I can't boogie down with. That said, JJ McCarthy is a credit to his type... which is technically mobile - is not actually a true dual-threat quarterback, because they don't use them that way we've never seen him be used as the third rushing option with enough frequency to go okay we can see his rushing stats on a regular basis, like Russell Wilson when he played in the Big Ten. That said again for what JJ McCarthy does which is brilliant by the way what is a credit to his type. What you have going on now is what you can clearly see is the applied tutelage of John Harbaugh through Jim... Going to your more actively aggressive rushing quarterback which is the true dual-threat quarterback. You have that in all of these candidates, Orji, Donegal and Daniels I have never been more thrilled and more optimistic about Michigan's future quarterback prospects then the pen of quarterbacks they have now... And to have "Shoelaces" on staff too? Michigan could not be better poised to produce a squad of highly talented offensive threats at quarterback.

Because he is small, not very athletic, slow and he hit his growth spurt early and hasn't got any taller since sophomore year. Naturally they got in on him early but didn't expect that he was done growing. Hes very slow which will be a huge problem at Michigan. He will end up transferring once he realizes he can't hack it at Michigan. You hear it here first

Not a fan! I don’t think he will be very good in the nfl. I prefer a more traditional, stand up pocket passer. Not a running quarterback

You’re definitely some old geezer lmao running quarterbacks thrive in the NFL. Lamar Jackson, Michael Vick, Donovan McNabb, John Elway, and so many more.

@@lostinthesauce8855 wow! It’s like you have some alternative version of the nfl and there history. Out the the quarterbacks you mentioned how many super bowls do they have?? Not counting Elway, he wasn’t a runner. More of a gunslinger who could scramble. Mcnabb either. Not a fan of the running quarterbacks, they don’t have the smarts usually to be great. Usually selfish and care more about there personal stats then the team.

John elway total career rushing stats: 3407 and 33 touchdowns Donovan McNabb: 3459 and 29 touchdowns Lamar Jackson: 5258 and 29 touchdowns Patrick Mahomes (arguably the best QB ever) : 1936 and 19 touchdowns Rushing QBs do just fine in the NFL. It’s a team sport there is a reason the QBs I listed in my last message were Hall of Fame QBs. It’s not just their fault they didn’t get a Super Bowl. If Brady was on the Jaguars or the Lions all of the 2010’s he doesn’t win any super bowls..
