Be honest... how many of you went down the rabbit hole of trying "new exercises" you saw on TikTok / IG REELS and after realizing you spent weeks wasting your time you came back to your senses and just started benching more often with heavier weight and more sets?! Don't be shy! Share your stories fam!
@brandonw24712 жыл бұрын
Never had tiktok or insta but I did go down a different rabbit hole of new excersises back when I used to watch a lot of Athlean-X. Not saying all of Jeff's suggestions are bad, but the huge amount of exercise suggestions he gives can be super overwhelming for beginners. Athlean-X videos on uncommon exercise variations are probably better for experienced lifters looking for ways to change up how they train to avoid injuries. But it's easy for beginners to get sucked in when his titles and thumbnails are so appealing to beginners. ("How to get 19 in arms fast"? If I'm a naive noobie lifter, hell yeah I'm gonna click that)

Just don’t use heavy weights and you’ll be fine. If you can’t get at least 6 reps you have no business trying to curl it. The biceps are a very small muscle and they don’t need a lot of weight to challenge them

Last, reduce back down to 37kg for 4 sets/15 Reps. Followed by 3 sets dumbbell press and flies with 16kg dumbbells, 15 Reps and 12 Reps respectively. Feels good, and the next day I get that tightness in my arms and chest. Not trying to get big so it's good enough for me at 54 years old.

Why cant the myth die that machines are more for beginners. I would argue machines are better for building muscle than any free weight exercise.
@faelgrim51302 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. Machines are usually better for advanced lifters because the muscle base is already established, so the machine can be used to eke out just a little bit more progressive overload. They're also helpful reducing the stress of heavy compound lifts, which cannot be performed as frequently the higher you go in weight. Beginners should almost ALWAYS start out with the basic compound lifts to build their muscular base.
@joojotin2 жыл бұрын
@@faelgrim5130 I completely agree, there is value to learning the basic compounds. Im just saying the myth that machines are for beginners really needs to die.
@joojotin2 жыл бұрын
@@faelgrim5130 why do you think beginners should almost always start with free weights tho? Are you personal trainer?
@faelgrim51302 жыл бұрын
@@joojotin Yeah I agree on your original point too. Beginners need to work on the stabilizer muscles as well as the major muscles. I used to go to planet fitness, best decision I ever made was to switch to a gym with free weights. Only training on machines was holding me back so much as a beginner. When I used a free weight bench press I couldn't lift nearly as much weight as I should have been able to, the stabilizers were nonexistent.

It took over 2 weeks for you to make a new video? Man, you're getting lazy these days. Well, at least it's not another one of those lame vertical short videos that a lot of bodybuilders are doing lately. Anyway, Scott, what do you think of a person going into starting a supplement store reselling? I want to order supplements at a discount and resell them retail online for profit. To test this idea out, I ordered 6 supplements (3 are a fat burner; and the others boots testosterone) at a 51% discount and after my dad recovers from his knee surgery and doesn't need my constant help, I will put them on eBay at retail. Right now I'm only testing things out to see if this business idea works.
