Not many of us are as blessed as Rikki with amazing calves. I mean seriously, if girls are walking behind him down the street saying DAMMMMMN... It's not the glutes... its the calves. haha But all jokes aside guys, building great calves just takes dedication. Of course gentics will play a role, but that doesnt mean you can't improve what you've got! So instead of saving them for last, try doing them first. If you make them a priority, then they will get the attention they need to grow! *GUARANTEED GAINS "FREE PROGRAM DOWNLOAD" - **muscularstrength.com/guaranteed_gains_sign_up_FREE*

I like incorporating the 10/6/10 technique with your concepts. That is.... 10 seconds isometric contraction when the muscle is maximally contracted, then 6 reps perfect form accentuating the negative and 10 partial reps...it works f or me.

Interesting concept! What about a 10 second isometric hold at maximum contraction, 10 second hold at maximum stretch, then AMRAP after that? Now that will BURN!

Scott, I am wanting to use cheat and recover method to train, can you give me some guidance, exercise selection is my problem as I am training from home and all I have is power blocks, can’t communicate well on KZbin as I am blind, how might I communicate with you about this Are used the method last year with excellent results, but I had the gym and all the equipment to fall back on, the weights I have a suitable for the appropriate rap ranges, it’s purely exercise selection I’m struggling with Muscle groups like shoulders, arms et cetera are fine, it’s mainly back I’m struggling with, don’t have a pull up frame so relying on rowing
@nilsk36564 жыл бұрын
I only use the TRX right now to train the calves. Same stance like the tight gripped benchpress. 3 sets, 20 reps. Maybe not enough, I'll give it a try. But the stretch is very good at the TRX.

JUST IN TIME- I needed this. Was thinking about improving calves training for a while now. But definitely cursed as it seems I'm doing it right... But cursed by lockdown. The best workout I got at home for calves is the plated calf raises but with 40lbs Dumbbells to hold. I end up having a "river of hot blood" with ages of fighting the burn into about 40 reps. That's too many reps. And I do that 3 or 4 sets each Legs day (twice a week)
@ScottHermanFitness4 жыл бұрын
Yeah 40 reps would really get the calves on fire. Hopefully you can get back in the gym soon so you can overload with a bit more weight!

What's your opunion on toe angle? I've been getting some nice size with outer, inner and forward angles when doing the standing calf raise. Quicker on the way up, then reeeeeally slow on the way down. I hit the 'forward angle' twice, as i start 'toes out' then work to 'toes in' then back again. 4 sets of 20 reps 3 times a week. Sometimes 4 if i feel i need a boost. 😂

Hey Scott, I don't know who else to ask, every fitness KZbinr I know it's either on gear, or vegans, or using fake weights so I don't expect they have the I.Q. required for an answer. They're just a bunch a conmen scammers. Question about body's instinctual adaptation. If I do pull ups, (long term), how will my body preferentially respond: 1) It will build the stimulated muscles 2) It will start producing Leptin in order to decrease my appetite and thus decrease my body weight. (a lower body weight will implicitly make doing pull ups easier since fighting gravity requires such a tremendous amount of energy). Now, the question is, will this be a 50-50 even option the body is going to go after? Or what would the body's preferential choice be?

I'd say go even slower in the negative than what you did. I love that feeling on the calve raise machine. My calves blew up after I started going real slow, holding he contraction and pausing for a sec way at the bottom. Also, make sure your calves aren't tight or they'll never completely stretch. The calves gotta really burn! All the way to failure and beyond lol.
