I’m a “Black” American woman but upon some research recently found out that we descend from the Honorable Clan MacMhuirrich. My family has been the Currie’s of NC for a very long time. I have Waccamaw Siouan heritage also. History is just so fascinating! I don’t bother to worry myself over how all this came to be. I just know I’m proud to be a Currie today! Thanks for this awesome informative clip I can’t wait to visit the beautiful highlands, the birthplace of my great ancestors. #ClanCurrie 🙌🏾

My Currie/ Curry also came from NC. Red Springs actually near Fayetteville. And left for GA in 1839. Wondering if we have some of the same ( more recent) ancestors.

Thanks for the great post! My Great, Great Grandfather, Niall Currie emigrated (to the U.S.) from Islay in the mid 19th century.

It was great to hear about the Currie history. My great-great grandfather, John Currie, emigrated to Ontario from the island of Islay in 1833. I'm very proud of my Scottish and Scots-Irish background.

You might be related to me. Though there was more than one John Currie who emigrated from Islay at that time.

@@edwardnoelke5587 holy! Archie was my Dad's Great Uncle. I have a clock he gave my Grandpa for his wedding to my Grandma in my living room!

@@kathrynreinders9339 Are your relatives from Sunnidale Corners, Simcoe County, Ontario? If so we are probably 3rd or 4th cousins.

@@edwardnoelke5587 possible - I think I've got it figured out. Your John and Archibald are not the same as mine. I got too excited. My ancestor I believe is actually your John's brother Donald, born in 1797. Donald then married Anna Gilchrist in 1826. They immigrated and settled in Nottawasaga township, Simcoe ON.
