Although we beat them almost all the times, afterwards it's just a great party with lot's of great people. For me there's no other anthem as patriotic as the flower of Scotland , I don't know the words to the German anthem but it sounds beautiful

+kev dufc I obviously don't know all the anthems in the world, but the French is pretty darn patriotic as well.. And has one of the best melodies that I know. :) (I'm not French. I'm Danish.) The German one is also beautiful, but they have the same problem (maybe to an even greater extent) that the French do.. They're too damn quiet. You'd expect nations that big to really blow us smaller countries away with volume but they never seem to do that.. :/

Yes you are definitly right. (I don't want to start anything btw :D) BUT the German people are scared to shout it. Or to be proud on the nation, because of our past. For me, I shout everytime when I sing the anthem. But sadly, that happens not often. Because I hear it only if I watch a Football Match where the Germans plays. I wish, that we have to sing it in the school every morning. That would be awesome. Greetings to Scotland from Germany :)

+KirTyun Fellow German here. We aren't the Amis. We do NOT indoctrinate our children to sing the anthem in school every morning. First off, no one can (or should) be forced to sing any anthem if they do not want to, no matter the reason. Secondly, not every child is a German citizen or child of two and might feel ostracized by either side of their heritage if they were forced to sing an anthem they don't agree with or refuse to do so. Thirdly, the teachers are not allowed to impose their own political opinions onto the students, and such a thing would do that. Fourthly, because we are not the americans and certainly not the McCarthy era americans. Also, we don't shout the anthem because the melody doesn't lend itself to shouting. The Marseillaise does, and the Brazilian anthem, but ours doesn't. And that's okay. It's just an anthem.
