The Who interview section from a UK TV show called "Whole Scene Going". This ran for just over 10mins, but due to three copyright claims, which blocked it from being made public I had to edit out over 90s seconds of video. Which is a shame as there was more live video of the Who at The Witch Doctor Club in Hastings England from August 4th 1965

I saw The Who once in 2006 in Berlin when it was down to just Roger and Pete at the core. They were incredible. I wish I had a time machine to go back and see the band in ‘65/‘66 - I don’t think that there are many (if any) live recordings from that explosive period officially released/recorded. That’s a great shame as it is known how good they were live back then. “Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy” was my introduction to The Who when I was 12/13 - I still love that compilation. What a band! Love them. Thank you for sharing this. Pete definitely had a determined attitude in those days lol.

Was way later in 1968 saw them in Sydney. Still remarkably good show though. Unlike the Beatles in '64 we could hear them! 😆😍

And these days people say that there is *_"No such thing as British Culture"?!_* ... Well, let's all acknowledge that Music is one element!... and sport... and art... and theatre... and literature... and philosophy... and fashion... and comedy... and film... and engineering... and innovation... and invention... but, yeah, OK, apart from all of that, _"there's no such thing as British Culture"._

Well, by the fact you are here watching this, I would say that you didn't 'get old' ... 72 years young. Getting old isn't about your age in years.

Loved every second of this interview! Pete in his most cynical cold phase, where he seemed to hate anyone of The Who, so much, that he doesn’t even name them by their names but only call them by their function „the singer, the drummer, the bass-man“. And I had to laugh at the „the majority of the audience is thick and our music is shallow.“ Love this snobbish Pete! And the girl asking „ in My Generation you wrote „I hope I die before get old“… do you in fact mean t?i…..“ Pete without hesitating and almost not letting her finishing her question in a cold and unambiguously demeanor „YES!“. (The girl was kinda irritated 😂😂😂😂) I‘m in love with this man! 🩵 Thank you for uploading! What a gem!

Great interview. You could see the man doing his best to answer honestly. Perhaps 'polish' would have been a better word than 'quality'.

The host at the end was really sweet. He could see that Pete was frustrated by them not understanding what he meant and tried to ease the tension. Too bad they cut it off there.

All this pap about hatred and aggression and amongst the band members, he is making up. Its just a theme used to attract testosterone-filled young men looking for a release. Thats why they smash the instruments up too, its just drama to attract a certain macho mindset. But beyond that there is no depth to it, they are simply middle-class young men earning a living, and this is what they and their management have chosen to focus on. Similarly you get someone like Katie Price inflating her bosom with massive amounts of silicon, having facelifts, wearing fake hair extensions, tattooing eyebrows on her forehead, etc. It is nothing more than attention seeking, knowing that there is a certain audience out there that will buy into that image. Sex Pistols also focussed on disaffected youth, frustrated with lack of prospects in society; the list goes on. Cash From Chaos.

I love Pete Townsend and the Who, but the vast majority of 21 year olds are not that interesting. Throw in Pete being full of himself, and you get this.

It was proven, *_by the Police themselves,_* that Pete Townsend had not accessed, viewed, or even interacted in any way with anything of that nature at all. And, subsequently, that was confirmed 100% by multiple sources. What he did do, in an inept and very clumsy way, was try to expose and help to counter the abuse of children. He himself is a survivor of sexual abuse from when he was a child. Pete Townsend cannot and should never be slandered in any way like that. To even attempt to do so is, in and of itself, is an injustice.

@@tubthump Everything I wrote is a fact. If you have problems with facts, do get a dictionary and look up the word "fact". Also, more facts (sorry) - *"The Met stated that **_'it was established that Mr Townshend was not in possession of any downloaded child abuse images'._** Townshend was on a sex offenders register for five years, beginning in 2003, after admitting he had used his credit card to access a child sexual abuse images website. Townshend claimed he accessed the images as research in a campaign *against child sexual abuse* - specifically, *to prove that British banks were complicit in channelling the profits from paedophile rings.* Authorities could not prove that the website accessed by Townshend involved children, and no incriminating evidence was found on his personal computer."* As I stated - *_misguided_* and yes, misguided to the Nth degree. Anyone with fully functioning and average-or-above intelligence knows that Pete Townsend is not a non-ss.

@@FordPrefect-Earth By looking at a child porn website himself, the hoped to prove that banks were involved in channelling the profit. I'm not a rocket scientist myself so I cannot fathom in the slightest how that action of his would contribute to proving that purported end. To a simpleton like myself and millions of others, I presume, there can be no other end in mind when a single man pays money to access certain webpage, again this singular activity being outside of any known or shown or proven greater project or activity, evidence of which has not been presented either. In other words, he was committing pedophile activity based solely upon his own uncontrolled lust.

@@FordPrefect-Earth If no illegal images were downloaded then surely no crime was committed - so why did he admit committing a crime by accepting the police caution?
