I remember, as a kid, when the Jaws of Life was introduced. Our school was given a demonstration, on a previously wrecked car, to show how great this new tool truly is and I still think this tool is one of the greatest things ever created! I enjoy watching the extractions. I don't want to see blood or gore or the people inside...I just like watching the first responders figuring out how to get the people out and then doing so. All the cool tools they have to use but in the end its the ability to think HOW to best utilize those tools in the current situation.

Yhwhtlc only an issue is she had open wounds. In the field they try as much as possible to keep things clean. Anything going on an open wound would be sterilized prior. It is plastic so nothing can grow on it in that short of time, we also didn’t see if they wiped it down. From the looks of what we could see in the driver’s area, there wasn’t blood shown. Once at the ED she’d be cleaned up better than your kitchen counters. We walk on that ground, unless it is polluted with man made fluids & stuff, it is ok. It won’t kill you unless the open wound isn’t cleaned very well or at all. No need to panic because a piece of plastic was on the ground.

Of course that injury can paralize or kill the victim. Never move car or injured person from vehicle unless it's on fire or about to go over a cliff or stuck on. R/R Tracks.
