@@jeosh. @jeosh. armor is not useless, heave sets gives you nice damage reduction, but not poise, so it wont really make a difference in stabillity when using shield. When using a shield, watch the defense values on the shield, most shields, protect 100% phisical damage, but not fire, magic, electric or dark damage. Armor can give you some elemental protection that shield wont.

Actually, there IS one thing that can counter the wall. Sacred flame I think it's called. Pyromancy. Pretty much Gwyn's grab attack nuke. If it connects, it will start the animation, no matter if the opponent is blocking with a small shield or a greatshield.

I was doing some testing with a friend and I noticed that there seems to be a correlation between the amount of stamina damage a kick does and the damage and or weapon class of the right hand weapon currently being held (Gotthard Twinswords being an exception for some reason as it only took 2 kicks to guardbreak) I also found that kicks did no stamina damage if you did not have the required stats for the right hand weapon. For reference, I was wearing the Horsehoof and Knight slayer's ring the whole time I was testing (my friend was using Havel's Greatshield +5 one handed)

Cao Cao They need to find some balance between the kick and guard break. The kick is too weak, and the guard break was too slow (you could just move back slightly to avoid). If they just increase the multiplier on the AR to stamina drain for kicks I think it will be fine. Great shields should only take a couple kicks to break, not one though since that would negate the point of a great shield entirely.

I just kind of flailed pointlessly for 4-5 minutes, tried kicks, even used the guard break once. Bleed sort of works, but I didn't think I had enough carthus rouge to outlast his estus, and no real bleed weapons on me at the time. Finally got frustrated, pulled out straight sword again, and just spammed the guard break. Invader staggered after 4 consecutive guardbreaks and I tore him apart before he could recover.

It was so integral to your survival in combat. If you had to choose between armour and a shield for protection, you would choose the shield. When plate came around, it was so effective knights usually stopped using shields all together. Knights were absolutely invincible in armour. Arrows, swords, axes, everything couldn't penetrate it. Human muscle isn't powerful enough to penetrate steel.

There's a dagger that has a weapon art called "Blindspot". It can damage people even when they have their shield up. But the range on it is really close. You have to literaly hug your enemy. But when it hit them, it do a pretty good damage. About 210-275 damage depend on your weapon enhancement level. And some weapons has a weapon arts called "Shield Splitter" Or "Darkdrift", they do damage to an enemy even if their blocking. I think they do about 200-300 damage, I m not sure cuz i don't use them that much. I haven't tried them against greatshield, but i think it will work.

They don''t stack. One works on your weapons only and won't get through a greatshield stamina bar, the other works only on kicks, which studies have shown you can walk backwards away from.

But too bad it does less damage than a regular r1 due to a weird modifier mechanic when it comes to shield piercing weapon arts, also it costs fp, and doesnt pierce shield when you are out of fp. So lets say he pulls it off around 10 times, and thats IF the Great shield user doesn't just roll away from the extremely telegraphed attack, it will be doing like 120-200 damage MAX. Yah and DamnNoHtml has like 45 vigor, ring of favor +2, and life ring +3, so he has almost 1900 hp, cause i have a build with that too. So in reality the estoc user would have maybe 7-8 uses of the WA, almost all of which would miss on anyone who can click the roll button. So this strategy would not work.

+dudeglove bleeds only good if you have a ton of luck. If you have a luck bleed build and come up against a great shield, good on you, but shield builds are so rare and random, and i have yet to lose to a bleed build on anything BUT shield builds, so its not really worth playing right now IMO. but if you like it, play it! you can make literally anything work in soulsborne games.
