Ingrid's version is beautiful. Ren's is very intimate and tender. Both lovely. Yes, I think Ren's is all him in the layered harmonies. You can hear that distinctive voice in the mixes.

This was just something he did for his grandmother, towards the end of her life, as it was her favourite song. He wasn't going to release it. He said it's far from perfect but he decided to release it anyway. I find it absolutely beautiful! :)

She has a lovely voice & I liked the way she made it her own but I didn't like the piano behind it at all. The softness of the guitar is much better. Ren & the guys singing for his nan just has my heart. He's my favorite.

Both brought me to tears, especially thinking about my own grandmother and my mum, who is getting up there in age and I don't know how much longer I'll have her in my life. Such a beautiful song. Personally, I think Ingrid touches on a DIFFERENT kind of perfection here. Ren is celebrating love, but in a gentle way, a reminiscing... while Ingrid is just declaring love for love's sake. I think they are equally perfect. I don't think I can choose one over the other. Thanks for doing this darling. I appreciate you. Ingrids voice reminds me a bit of Eva cassidy. Both versions are really good, but for the raw stripped back emotion I prefer Rens take on the song, knowing the backstory also clinches it for me.

Feb 2nd is Mary’s Festival of the Candles in Whales 😊 also twenty one pilots did a version of it and it was really sweet because it was solo and then with the audience and then solo again super super sweet you should check it out. He’s got the Midas touch ❤

I totally agree with you that 'Ingrid' has a Beautiful version of this song. As much as I am a RENegade, I do think her version is Great. For me, each is just as good as the other. I'll have to say 'Ingrid' wins, but only because I am partial to a female voice. They both made the song their own in their own way, and I love the uniqueness each brings to an already beautiful song. Love your channel and what u bring to all your reactions. God Bless.

They also do a stunning version of Don't Think Twice, It's Alright - which also has an amazing video. - They also do You Are My Sunshine + When You're Smiling, all on KZbin. Ingrid reminds me of Tori Amos.

Well. Wow. Every time I think I've heard everything Ren has done, something else I've never heard pops up. That was BEAUTIFUL. The harmonies, the gentle and raw voice, the going down at the end, as always making it his own even though it's a cover. Ren has an amazing skill with covers, always keeping enough original, but making them better as only Ren can when he Re(n)invents them. Just lovely. Sorry, gonna have to vote Ren as the best between these two, his felt really authentic and sincere like he was breathing the song into life as a sharing of genuine love. Lol - she has a lovely voice, you love hers, and I'll love Ren's. Thank you for introducing me to a 'new' song from Ren!! :-)

It's Ren's version for me. If I'd heard Ingrid's first I would've quite liked it for being a bit different but not enough to top Elvis. Elvis used to be my favourite singer especially when it came to ballads, then I heard TBP with Ren singing Oh (Why) My Woman and my hair stood on end! His voice holds the Elvis quality of soft gentle intimacy but with an added creaky rasp in my earphones that almost brings him into my living room; perfect simplicity. Even Bing Crosby comes nowhere close, and I love a bit of Bing :)

I have heard both versions and I love Ingrid, but I have an emotional attachment to REN’s version I think… knowing that this was the song he sang to his Grandmother gives it extra weight… so I will have to say Ren gets the edge for me but I do really enjoy hers also… 🫶🏻

Both are beautiful. But Ren's guitar and harmonies are superior to the piano in Ingrid's(IMHO). Ren's voice has a different magical quality to me that seems to hit me deep in my soul. It could be that I discovered him during a deeply painful time in my life. With music, personal context is so important on how it affects somebody, and nobody could blame you for loving Ingrid's version even more.

Both of these covers are beautiful. Yes, I think you're biased because Ingrid's is sentimental for you, but I also think the Renegades are biased because it's Ren. I'm gonna disagree with everyone and say I love them both , but prefer Elvis' version.

I suspect you'd feel differently if you hadn't heard her version first and had it end up full of meaning for close friends. :)

A-HA! I was worried I had actually fallen into a cult. How is it possible that I, and apparently many others, like pretty much every single song by Ren, going back to his teen years? How is that possible?? What other artist can I say that about?? NONE. But here we are and I can categorically agree with you that Ingrid's version is better!! I'm not brainwashed! I CAN still objectively judge music, which ipso facto means my opinion that Ren is a musical miracle is accurate.
