a little adjustment to your tips. the soft body top hook style swimbaits can be fished effectively all year round. all that changes is the retrieve speed. when using one thats 6" or bigger you want to use 50-80lb braided line and depending on water clarity you either use no leader or a 10 foot leader of fluorocarbon line between 17-25lb test. as long as there is no ice on the water you can fish it in the coldest of water and still catch fish. hope this helps everyone who sees

Scott--FLW cup champion and a million bass later. A big cat nails your swimbait and you still get excited. Speech changes, nervous, throat clearing. All of these are signs of a true fisherman, it never gets old, every bite gets the ole heart racing. You can't help it, it's in your bloodstream and very addictive. Thanks for the tips and remaining a kid a heart.

Thank you for the video Scott. Ive never tried swim baits and I'd like to give it a try. All i own are some spinning rods, med. Fast action, and spinning reels. Can i fish swim baits with my spinning rods/reels without having to go out and buy bait casting reel and heavier rods to see if i like fishing swim baits? If so, I live in northern Calif with fairly clear water, could i use 10 lb flouro line?

Well, Scott, I know you didn't do too well up here on Lake Guntersville not too long ago. But would you have any recommendations on areas up this way during the cold weather and the TVA drawdown to a winter water level? Down there in Florida or even in California (as someone made a comment about Matt Allen) nobody really has good tips on cold water pre-spawn, spawn, and post spawn, like when the water temps are in the 40's or so. But also just so you know, I do like all your work and Brandon is a wizard on filming and editing.

Liked the video as usual. I have been wanting to get into swimbaits but I fish from the bank and the big baits I think would be too big for that. Also I am looking at your TCS series rods and saw the 7’3 heavy. I want to use it for frogs, flipping from the bank and swimbaits. What ones of the swimbaits would work best with that rod? It seemed most of the rods you were using are the bigger Mat Daddy rods.
