An extraordinarily beautiful bowl. And as always your explanation and demonstration is top class. I’ve only just started turning and I think it’s about time I express my gratitude to you for your incredibly concise and informative teaching method…watching your videos has improved my technique and understanding so much so that I now feel confident I’ll be able to become a competent turner. Thank you so much 🙏😊

That is exquisite, Tomislav. I really admire smaller work, especially when the wood speaks for itself. It was also nice to watch you deal with some harder timber very effectively.

What a pleasant surprise. We have an Acacia tree here ( West Australia), that has White sap wood and chocolate brown heart wood. Like yours very hard but polishes very beautifully. I will have to try your trick of using the sap wood like a natural edge bowl.

Beautiful bowl. I really like how you used the sapwood. The dust looked positively awful but the finish coming off the tool -- the shine was amazing

Nice work. I'm a woodworker tat owns a wood lathe and have not got around to using it yet. Too many other projects involving the other machines. Wood turning is a unique skill. Some very talented woodworkers can't turn to save their life. I hope I don't suck at it once I get around to using my lathe.

I'm from same background, I would say it gives us advantage as we understand wood better, but it is specific trade ans it takes time and practice to be proficient at it Thank you very much

I really like the shape of this bowl. Also the wall thickness appears to allow some light through the sapwood. This makes the bowl shimmer in the light which enhances the shape of the bowl! Well done, sir!

The finished bowl has a remarkable resemblance to mesquite. Mesquite is also quite dense and has yellow sapwood. It finishes beautifully - like your Katalox. Cheers!

What a great looking bowl. Neat trick tommi. I have done a similar bowl with sandalwood, the top rim broke so I darkened edge with stain, left it a little rough. Wife loves it

I have a bit of wood that looks like yours. Here in Arizona it is called Texas Ebony it is very dense and heavy. Not necessarily too hard but you need to keep your tools sharp. Looks great when polished.

Hi Tomislav, that bowl turned out really nice! While you were using the bowl scraper I thought "What profile does it actually have?". Could you upload a top view photo or something of your refiner and the bowl scraper so that we can replicate the profile you have? That would be greatly appreciated 🤗 Thanks for the video and greetings!

Nice finish, just wondering if the oil you are using is a food safe one? I just filtered some fresh beeswax last week, that I'm using on the bowls. Can you tell me if this is enough or should I first use an oil and if so what would be the food safe oil to use? Thanks in advance Tomislav. Love your videos by the way.
@tomislavtomasicwoodturningАй бұрын
I use steinert woodturning oil which is linseed and wax , wax on it self is not protective but its nice warm soft finish which I also like ....

It looks great, nice color, grain, and finish, but I don't know that I would call it a natural (or live) edge. (Ha ha, at the end you call it 'man-made natural edge. That's cheating, but it cracks me up.)
