My brother Scott be riding, dang man wasn’t you just in Los Angeles? I bet you know every single highway and short cuts as well. Love your work so so much, I’m leaving Atlanta next Friday to Orlando to visit my daughter who’s a meteorologist and hurricane specialist for an ABC affiliate. But in regards to Ted Bundy, he thought he was smarter than everyone else. So little small details like “Head Lights” and other details didn’t cross his mind because remember he’s smarter than everyone else. It’s called “Inferiority Complex” syndrome and a nice taste of narcissism as well. Thanks for all of your hard work, please continue to share your adventures because you’re one of the best storytellers on KZbin

You want to know a crazy story? My dad worked for Ford Motor Company and he had to pick up a shipment of parts from Pensacola in February of 1978 and he stopped by a restaurant after picking up the parts and he said that he was stopped by someone who asked him for a few dollars to buy some food and he gave the guy $10 bucks and the guy shook his hand and told him that he hasn’t ran into anyone who’s willing to help a stranger, but if he’s in Colorado he would definitely buy my dad a beer and dinner is on him. Guess who this gentleman was? My dad said after the guy walked away and got into his “Volkswagen” and closed the door and drove across the street to McDonalds when he realized who this guy was. It was Ted Bundy who asked my dad for some money for food, my dad said that he was kind of short and looked like he lost weight. He didn’t call the police because of PTSD from the Civil Right’s Era and he still feared law enforcement because of the trauma he suffered growing up in Savannah Georgia and dealing with law enforcement even though my dad was a golden glove boxer before he was drafted into Vietnam. Crazy story 😮

Hi 👋 Scott. He was such a monster 👹. Charming one second, turning to insane the next. He'd also made his way to Southern California. I know, because I was 18/19 at the time, freshly graduated from Barbizon. I was starting my externship and assigned to finding a photographer I would work with. Pennysaver was the publication I used. I read all the photographer ads until I came to one, that I thought, was perfect. All I had to do, was called the number and ask for Ted. He finally called me back 3 days later. The thing that really caught my attention, was he insisted I meet him alone, at the Disneyland Hotel. He would be in a yellow VW Bug. He told me at night, it looked white, but was actually yellow. I had my Dad come with me. Sure enough, he showed up. He passed me 3times before he realized I was not alone. His smile faded instantly. He was pissed. While he made his way around the block, we booked it to my Dad's t bird. It was at night, but he still managed to catch up to us. Almost. People behind us started yelling for us to get out of the way. He was trying to run us over.he missed when we ran between cars. He was forced to drive around the block. By that time, we were well hidden. He was slowly creeping around, trying to spot us. By the time he had circled back, we were hunkered down in my Dad's car. As soon as we were outta sight, we drove out to the street. I was still hunkered down, but when my dad said it looked the coast was clear. When I popped up, headlights to my right came on and started chasing us through Anaheim. I knew the streets very well. H didn't, so we were blowing the horn and blowing through lights. My Dad was a very skilled driver then, and we lost him. When we got home, about 20 minutes later, the phone rang. It was him saying he lost me. What happened, and could we try again. Nope, was my response. I didn't think it was a good idea. He was then instantly pissed, calling me a little bitch, he would find me. I hung up on him, but then, rotary phones were easily tied up by a caller. By my 4thtime trying to disconnect the call, our line was finally free. I immediately called Buena Park P.D. to tell them what had just happened to us. I was immediately forwarded to their homicide detectives. I had to leave a message, but was called back a few minutes later. I retold my story a couple of times to be sure they had everything they needed. They asked if I had that pennysaver with his ad. I had rummage through4-5 before I finally found the right one with his ad, name, and phone number. They had ad numbers too, so they now had that. Once Bundy was captured and trial was being started, I was then called and asked if I would testify. I was all set to go, but then was warned Bundy would be representing himself and he would have access to our address. I had to refuse. Bundy was very terrifying in person. They begged me until I could hear another male voice telling the detective to not pressure me. After the trial & sentencing, I was called to see if I'd like to attend his execution. The chair. And that his mom would be there too. I started to feel badly for his mom, until I was told I shouldn't. I asked what happens during an electrocution and was told it was pretty smelly and gruesome. I declined and told him I didn't want that sight stuck in my head the rest of my life, and that I'd just watch it on tv, at the fence, like everyone else that would be out there. I was 19 in 1978, and I can still remember every detail. Every flicker of those prison lights from the chair like it was just days ago.

My (MUCH OLDER 😘) sister was friends with Carol DaRonch (The only girl officially known to have fought off & gotten away from Ted.) The poor girl was really scared the first time Bundy broke out of jail in Aspen, CO. (captured 6 days later.) The second time she was so petrified that he was going to come looking for her. She changed her appearance, name & basically had to go into hiding in Salt Lake City. Even after she testified against him at the trial for Kimberly Leach (helping get him convicted for the second time) & he was sentenced to death, she still worried for years that he'd somehow escape and finish what he started. After he was finally executed, she took back her name and was able to live as "herself" again. Thanks for always staying classy when doing sensitive content. Love you, Scotty. 🤍 #unrestinhellted

Thanks so much for this upload, Scott, a fascinating factoid. Pensacola always sounds like PEPSICOLA. That's an interesting part of the state, known as the Florida Panhandle, you can hear a very distinct southern accent from people who live there, don't sound anything like Floridians from other parts of the state, like Miami.

The houses he lived in Salt Lake City, Utah are still up and look the same as when he lived here in the early 1970’s before I was born. The Fashion Place mall that a young 19 year old Carol DaRonch November 8, 1974 is still up and running great, with new development opening each year still to this day.
