SCOTT ON TAPE - Your Pop Culture Tour Guide

Күн бұрын

At Burr Oak cemetery just outside of Chicago, is the gravesite of a hero of the American Civil Rights movement, Mr. Emmett Till. This is a story of a brutal murder, a terrible lynching, and a grave injustice. This is also the story of a hero who never knew he would become one . I also visit the gravesite of legendary jazz/blues singer , Dinah Washington, Queen of the Blues. A beautiful day in Chicago with a sad story to tell.
Opening music provided by Jory Nash. The song is “Been So a Good To You” from the album “One Way Down” For this song and more beautiful music from Jory visit www.JoryNash.com

I first heard about Emmett Till when I was a kid and it moved me like it obviously moved you, too. It's still painful to think about what they did to him and even more painful to realize that very little has changed in our country since that day. Glad to see that he's still remembered, though. Thanks for visiting and sharing his story. It was a touching tribute!

What happened to Emmett Till was horrific, but trust that God will deal with those men responsible. At 14, he probably was crying because of the fear. No one should leave this world in that state of mind. But his death brought about change so he didn't die in vain. You created this video with accuracy and sensitivity, Scott. Would you do a video about Medgar Evans? That man was gunned down in his driveway, in front of his wife and children. Another Civil Rights advocate, who is always overshadowed by Martin Luther King Jr. Thank you, Scott.

Once again 2050 you have done an excellent job! Your empathy and compassion to do this type of thing is something that many people out there share. Unfortunately many others don't know and or care. Their apathy and complacency is quite pathetic. Imagine a 14 year old boy just starting High School having to go through this torture from two evil people. And to this day the woman who accused him admitted lying about it in February of 2017. Her name is Carolyn Bryant and there are pictures of her on her granddaughters Facebook page. Still enjoying life. So disgusting! Very disgusting! Thanks again 2050! I always enjoy watching your work. Don't ever stop.

Growing up a white girl in WV I didn’t hear about this piece of history until I was an adult that felt compassion for those that are hated and mistreated. I became obsessed learning about the civil rights movement. He is truly the father of civil rights, he didn’t even realize. He paid the price. This story shakes me to this day. . Rosa Parks was thinking of Emmett when she made the decision not to get up from her seat. Then the movement came. MLK is a hero too, he was the Shepard needed to lead the movement. I had to teach my parents cause they had no idea. I love your compassion and respect you consistently show. Respect and Love

Emmett was the same age as my dad! My dad was born and raised in Alabama- state next door to M 'sippi. It haunted him for a long time! One of America's worst times during the Civil Rights movement, Jim Crow era times!

I learned about this story from school. It was a civil rights class in the 6th and 10th grade. I’m glad I was taught about the March on Washington, civil rights, the sit in’s, black inventors, and so on. I had 2 very passionate teachers one who was black (6th) and one who was white(10th). My dad being a black man from Louisiana born in the 40’s I could only imagine how his life was as a kid down south. He never talked about it. And I didn’t want to bring up any bad memories if he had any which I’m almost 1000% positive he did so I never asked about his childhood. It was never spoken about his days in the south. He moved to Portland Oregon as a teenager and made his life there and met my mother. Anyway I will always remember Emmett Till and his mother Mamie. Both are hero’s in my eyes. RIP ET & MTM😢

That's a messed up story. Human beings can be like animals. His mama was so strong and right to teach everyone what hate can really do. 💔 R.I.P. Emmet Till.
