Years ago we did it with you $150 vs commodore v6 and a 800 dollar eBay nitrous kit 13.86 sec first pass 0n 75hp shot 13.19 on 100hp shot and on 125hp shot nitrous backfire and had to push it on the trailer, it only had a 8th of a tank of fuel we said we should put more in it but didn't, it surged on launch and bang lifted the plenum destroyed the intake pipe and blew the air box into 500 pieces.. I still wonder if it would have gone high 12s to this day..

This as got my interest. Love cheap budget builds. So much better and more attainable then most the others on KZbin. Would be curious along with the 12s for 2000 challenge to see a before and after speed and power wise too.l just for laughs and interest sake.

You need to keep the dashmat AND those pretty pink sunshades sitting on the back seat :D This is gonna be awesome. My dad owned a Series 3 AU SR (definitely NOT 'Sports Rally' haha) from new for a few years, even though it's common it still feels weird seeing them in this condition now!

I didn't like anything ford made after the XF series, so i'm really interested in this series. I love the Barra, such a killer. I did not know the Intech was so capable though! I'm considering selling my VN 5ltr and buying a XD/E or Cortina and then Barra swap later 😁. Really looking forward to this series.....and Trolvo 😁. Thanks Scotty!!

I see a recurring theme here Scotty, Dashmats!! You have to keep the AU Dashmat for the runs when this is finished. I've driven AU's back in the day as company cars and absolutely hated them, but given the years later I'll be interested to see how the build goes. Maybe you can auction off the AU Dashmat at the end of the series.

Glad this is going to be a no bullshit challenge. Last time I saw one of these (might have been SM doing it... ) it was a VT V8 vs an AU XR6... and it was total bullshit. The cars both got a whole heap of "gifts" VT had a rebuilt auto trans IIRC..

Watching with interest. This makes a change from a lot of the high $$$ content the KZbin algorithm seems to favour at the moment. Not saying I don't enjoy that as well but a low budget challenge makes a nice change.

Looks like it should be a bit of a fun project. I have some rear brake calipers here that I got reconditioned years ago for my electric trike and never used them because I bought some Wilwood calipers to go on instead. But they are for an EA, will they fit your AU?

Scotty...... dont do turbo treat it like its a old V8 shitbox. Headers. Heaps of spray. Rear gears converter and a cam itll be in the 12's oh and weight reduction!

I’m tempted to do this for abit of a laugh, I got a old Vn sitting here, with say a turbo kit, if we fab it up ourselfs, do we just put the price of materials to make the kit? Can we use old bits laying around that we have? And add that to the price roughly on what there worth? ( fuel pumps, injectors etc)

400k ita gonna need new rings, gaskits and valve seals as a safe bet the auto my bet someone put dex3 fluid in causing 1st gear clunk, so that expence shouldnt be on the 2k spend its only the horsepower upgrades that go on the 2k limit

Nobody hated em more than me especially at high school in a v8 obsessed hrt era then got one to try drifting and fuk i fell for em. Greatest car ever the perfect combo but looks like shit. Thos shit looks are so bloody tough tho like have a knock around the tail lights and you'll see wwhat i mean. It's like knocking on an ol volvo or lada. So this is a warning 😂 stay away from em or you'll also have 5 and still hate the looks
