Just bought a 2016 Toyota 4RUNNER 4x4 with 44K miles, no rust and in great condition with a clean Carfax. $29K, but it was worth it to me. Japanese made, great reliable V6, no moon roof, normal key ignition, and real mechanical parking brake. 👍 Forgot to mention, I could have easily bought a brand new 2025 4RUNNER, but I would not touch any new Toyota 4RUNNER with a 4 cylinder twin turbo!!!🤗Praise YaH!!!

Toyota Highlanders (2009-2013, best generation) are going for like $10,000 with 150,000 miles, and like $20,000 for like 80,000 miles. They’re well built vehicles but the prices are just fucked.

Had to replace an A/F sensor bank 2 sensor 1 on my 2002 RAV4 yesterday, but it’s fixed and is still going strong. That’s really the most likely issue you’ll run into with an older Toyota RAV4 when the check engine light goes on. A decent OBD2 scanner is a must if you’re going to have an older RAV4. The sensor wasn’t cheap but it was a whole lot cheaper than what a mechanic would charge me.

Hey Scotty, my girlfriend just recently purchased an Acura RDX (2023) that is AWD. I've only had FWD vehicles my entire life, so I'm researching the maintenance on the differential fluid and transfer case fluid. While I have the manufacturers recommended replacement schedule, I wondered what your experience is on how frequently to change these? Since the manufacturer recommended oil change is 7,500 and I almost always try to stick to 5,000, I figured I should get some input on this too. I do appreciate the tip about replacing all 4 tires! I don't feel like that is discussed by a lot of people.

However, both knock sensors just crapped out and every garage wants $1,500 plus to replace them. Is it worthwhile to spend that much on it, or should I drive it to the junkyard? My Wife says it is cheaper than car payments just to fix the problems. What do you think?.

Neither, depends on the vehicle not miles, the steel is nothing, I have a steel factory not far from me, all day long they melt cars and appliances. Steel is extremely abundant since it gets recycled. 100K at 50 MPG uses less gas than 200K at 20 MPG

This last November, I bought a 2015 rav4 with the 1.4 that had about 128,000 miles and I paid $13,500 . It is the base model but that is all I really needed. I am 73 and I use it primarily to go to the school where I sub 14 miles away. I'm getting a consistent 27mpg...not the greatest, but a lot better than my old truck that got 14 mpg. Yes, I would have liked the larger 4 cylinder, but mine still gets up to 60mph fast enough for me. Oh.....I had the transmission fluid changed and what drained out was real dirty. I will keep the tranny fluid changed on a regular basis.

Lol 160k miles is nothing, unless you're driving a Kia or Suzuki car. Bought my 05 Grand Prix with 223,500 miles on it doesn't burn oil doesn't leak anything shifts like a dream, body and interior in great shape. It depends what you get. GM stuff from the 90's/earlier 2000s are generally decent, except Cadillac never get anything with a NorthStar, but anything with an LS V8 is decent and the 3.8L/3800 from GM was one of the best engines ever, the 3.1, 3.4, 3.5 and 3.6 are all kind of garbage, but if you find something well maintained with a 3800 that's a solid engine, lots of Buicks had them in that era including my roommate's uncle's Park Ave that has 374k miles and runs perfectly fine. It all depends what you're getting. A Toyota with 160k miles? It's practically new. Certain GM engines/vehicles? Yeah plenty of miles left! A Kia at 160k miles? Umm the owner is lucky it's still running at 160k miles! It's done for any day now! Haha.

@davidjager23
@davidjager23 6 күн бұрын
@GladstoneGander33 yeah and there's no perfect engine either, maintenance is key. I feel like if there's one risk in buying an old Toyota with a lot of miles on it, it is that Toyotas are so known to be indestructible that some people just don't take care of them thinking they don't have to since it's a Toyota. I'd take a vehicle with an engine that's known to be unreliable but that was flawlessly maintained than a car with an engine that's known to be stout that hasn't had an oil change in 65k miles and never had the coolant flushed, never ran fuel injector cleaner etc
