I used to be a GM guy. Active fuel management(cylinder deactivation) and auto start-stop, with no disabling button, moved me to Ford/Lincoln. My Lincoln engine runs on all cylinders and when I start the engine, I turn-off the auto start-stop feature using the touch screen. I don't have to purchase after-market products to accomplish either. GM ran me away as a customer several years ago. I used to like my Chevys, Pontiacs, and GMCs. They left me, I didn't leave them.

I basically abandoned GM after 2019 in my eyes. 2020 c8 though futuristic fast and amazing, is NOT a true corvette based on mid engine and all auto. It just went to a different market. The 2019 zr1 is basically the last amazing super car they make with a 7 speed manual. Their trucks aren’t what they used to be. And with their supposed voiced move to be “all electric” by 2030, completely capped any feelings I have toward their new lines. I’ll always be a GM guy in terms of Camaros GTOs G8s and the amazing corvette along with the older duramaxes all the Tahoes and Yukons/suburbans I grew up in … but I don’t think I’d ever buy new from GM or give them the time of day :(

Buicks are beautiful cars, and with regular maintenance, they'll treat you well. My parents had a 03 LeSabre until about 8 months ago, and only traded it in because the rear struts were literally rusting off the car (they live in Connecticut, so the road salt corroded the strut mounts practically off). When they traded it in, that car boasted a whopping 217,000+ miles, and they would have kept driving it had it not been for that issue. Nowadays, they have a 2014 and 2017 Buick LaCrosse, both of which have given them no issues. When it's time to replace my car, I'm hoping to get a Buick myself.

Between my 98 Regal and my wife's 2004 Stratus... I had to make several more repairs on her Dodge than my Buick. My Buick had 160k miles when I sold it... The Dodge had ONLY 70K MILES and the dealership paid x4 as much for it! 🤣 I feel sorry to whoever bought that car.

@@jasono2139dodge sucks. I had a 99 dodge Avenger that I bought in 2004 and I put it in reverse and then when I put it in drive it died and would not start. Don't remember what it was but it cost me $1300.00 to fix it. The engine idled ruff by the time it had 115,00 miles on it and I paid several people to fix it never could get it fixed. And one cold winter morning the driver side door handle broke after I had it 1 year so I always reached through the passenger side to open the door. Then one day at 158,000 miles another cold winter morning it just died on me while I was doing about 45mph and I had just enough to coast into the gas station. While I was making up my mind wether or not I was done with this car I decided to go into the gas station to get a coke. So I went to open the passenger side door and now THAT handle broke off so I threw it and said "I'M DONE WITH THIS CAR" then I brought an 09 Corolla in the fall of 08 now it has 139,000 miles and still runs like the day I bought it. And I went car shopping for my mom (she just wanted me to do it for her) and got her a 2015 Buick LaCrosse about 4 or 5 years ago have had no problems so far.

I never thought I would ever purchase a GM vehicle, but the Enclave has more passenger space, more cargo space, and more actual useable room behind the third row than any of the competition. Vicks Vapo-Rub works great to keep everything away. Mice, rats, squirrels, cats etc. The menthol really offends them. I buy a bunch every fall when I put my motorcycles away for the winter. I put holes in the lids and hide the bottles in my saddlebags, on the engine, under the dust cover on the seats, on the shelves in the shed, in my tool box, on the floor, etc. I also keep them in my cellar. I smear it inside the engine compartment of my Jeep too. The stuff is cheap and it works.

I learned to drive in 1989 Buick park avenue. I absolutely loved that car. Ugly brown with a vinyl top. It had the opera lights on the sides along with a power antenna and a weird auto closing trunk - I used to get pissed when people slammed it. It had a “concert sound II” sound system - I had the cd adapter that you put in the cassette deck to play my disc man. The 3800 engine was a so awesome. Not really a fast car, but it was reliable, the transmission shifted flawlessly, and it rode Ike an absolute dream. When I was 18 and me and my buddies wanted to go out we took “the old man” car and loved every minute of it. My dad had Buicks from the 1950’s until he died in 2003. He bought his first and only new car in early 2003 - a brand new park Avenue - he was able to drive it once before he succumbed to cancer. My mom had that car for 18 years…. The only reason it didn’t last longer was due to the salt on the roads in the northern US…. Engine and transmission still shifted smooth. Buick still holds a place in my heart as cheesy as that sounds.

When I reached out to Scotty's team they suggested that I get a CRV and 4 years later I'm thinking I should've done that. Now you're mentioning a Highlander that just might be my next vehicle.

I just thought I would chime in about my Chrysler 2014 300c (70/K). My brake control module went out. It departed with my Forward Warning, my Cruise Control, and lastly, my Anti-lock Brakes. So I went to the local dealer and was informed that this part was not available and it would take 2-3 weeks to send off my module and get it repaired. Then they dropped the hammer, $2200 for the repair but hey, they could rent me a car for $35/day+. I went online and found an overnight repair shop that would accept MY module. Since it is MY module NO CODING would be required. If true how can they charge so much? Since I was the MIA/POW coordinator for this State, I find it hard to buy Japanese or German Products. That's why this vid is of interest to me.

In '92 my parents were car shopping for my mother. I was consulted. I strongly recommended she get a Honda Acoord Sedan. She ended up buying a Buick Skylark Sedan ("because it had more power"/acceleration). They got to know their Buick dealer really well over the next 5 years. My dad told me privately some years later "he was overruled". And so it goes.

I'm with you Scotty! I bought my 2015 Lexus GS350 F-Sport AWD used, Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) from a Lexus dealer here in Massachusetts. The original owner, from MA as well, bought it for $59K to have it as their "Winter car" at their Florida residence. 4 years later I bought it for $32K with only 26,500 miles on it. Lucky me! It was in literally brand-new condition, garaged and well maintained. I love driving it every day, and sometimes I have to pinch myself that I could afford to buy a Lexus after 3 decades of Mazda ownership.

She is very diligent about taking care of things we both learned from my parents and that is like me I have had the same car for 39 years and not anal about maintenance but I always take care of either myself or a good mechanic that I have had do work on all my vehicles for the last 33 years and I plan to drive this car up to the day I leave this earth.

We love it-I bought it because it has the most space of any three row SUV (cargo space is very good, most 3 rows including the Toyota have non-existent cargo space). Since purchasing, I have also found that I love the engine power (I go 80 mph without realizing), the quiet and smooth ride, the lane assist and safety features, the cameras, the wireless charging, the climate control, etc. HIGHLY recommend one of these to anyone with kids. Seats 7 comfortably.

Being from the north I can't possibly disagree harder on avoiding awd. As a basic matter of risk management, being able to control your vehicle in slippery conditions seems to make a hell of a lot of sense. Have to weigh out the cost of the awd vs the risk of catastrophic damage to your vehicle (or passengers, drivers and other people on the road) if you lose control of the vehicle.
@millerkiller64962 жыл бұрын
No, you just need to learn how to drive more carefully in poor conditions. I too am from the North

I had a 2008 Enclave. It was fully loaded and 36k new. We had it for 9 years and 152k miles before the transmission went out. Decided to donate to charity rather than putting in a new transmission. It was a good vehicle, but I was meticulous about oil changes and other fluid changes.

Ours are turbo, it gets up and goes. I have no regrets but do wish it was more room to hold 5 inside, it comfortably holds 4. Working for a dealership and being a sells consultant, I would tell you to never buy used, you don't know for sure what you are getting into and they are marked up for a reason...you are over paying! You can flip the switch at the bottom to turn off the camera and then it functions like a regular rearview mirror. In those cases, I switch it off and use it like a regular mirror.

I got the doorman aluminum upgrade, 47065HP. I originally thought the water pump was bad so I replaced it because the coolant was leaking really bad. I got the water pump done and discovered it spraying out from somewhere and narrowed it down to just in front of the belt tensioner arm, which is where the upper bypass elbow is located, if you have to do that project just go ahead and replace both the upper and lower elbows.
