Thanks for doing this video. Its a great comparison between kyak and inflatible one of which I was thinking of buying. I am an old guy who always had a boat and now that I have sold my last one I miss getting out on the water and this may be an solution that I can deal with. Very well done. Thanks again.

My kid got the hook caught on the bottom of the 430 was tiny and easy to patch it’s fine now. I had issues with my trim of my 6hp outboard kept planing too much. Adjusted my trim now it’s fine great info vid. Thanks for sharing.

Great video - I just purchased the 430 - now deciding on an outboard. Thanks for pointing out the robustness of the design should a puncture occur. Also the various useful tips.

I’m glad I could be of help! I like to add both pros and cons so people understand what they’re getting themselves into. I really really dislike companies or other folks to promote or talk about a product and only do the pros. They do mention cons, but not to the extent that a new person interested in a inflatable skiff is going to be aware of.

Great video I have the 14th for Bris and I owned inflatables all my life. It is the most idiot proof and comfortable way to be on the water, especially if you want to fish all other boats or kayaks that are solid cannot be fished for more than two or three hours as mentioned in your video. You can fall asleep, as like a lazy boy on the water on your inflatable boat best value for enthusiasts

Really like the idea of these boats over an ally flat bottom for my camping setup but afraid the water I fish here in aus the snags would end up putting too many holes in it over time

Is there a way to have an outboard motor paired with a trolling motor on a scout? Where i boat it is very shallow with rocks and algaes…. So i need to switch to trolling.. also it is much more quiet.. but i need the the real outboard motor to get there.. or would take forever to get there on a trolling.
@adventureswithosidekayakguy2 жыл бұрын
There sure is, one of the owners did a DIY project, he has one of the 430s, he has a little 3.5 on the back and a GPS trolling motor at the front. He has not posted any of his photos publicly, but when he does I’ll be sure to send it to you. It’s a super neat little set up

Thanks for the awesome review. I know the manufacturer recommends a maximum of 5hp for an outboard. From your experience do you think the 430 could handle the lightest weight 6hp outboards without any issues or transom modifications? Thanks again for the quality content.
@adventureswithosidekayakguy Жыл бұрын
Yes it can. Most of the San Diego and Long Beach Scout owners run a Yamaha or Tahatsu six

I’m considering buying the Scout 430 but I’m not sure what size OB works best, what size shaft is more suitable, long or short shaft?
@adventureswithosidekayakguy2 жыл бұрын
Short shaft would be the best option, Scout Inflatable‘s recommends no more than five HP, however most Scout owners run a 6HP and it works totally fine for them. Anything bigger I would recommend you reinforce your transom with aluminum plates.-I would advise against long shaft

what type(where did you get ) drain plug is that on small scout inflatable?
@adventureswithosidekayakguy2 жыл бұрын
The drain plug is already installed on the Scout when you order one. As regards to a replacement part, I have no idea.

We shall see what you think in around 3 years if the PVC material the inflatables is made out of holds up. No professional rafts are made of PVC they are made of hypalon and nont degrade from UV light. PVC degrades substantially and quickly from UV light. Its why i haven't considered these type inflatables. Basically a throw away boat.
@adventureswithosidekayakguy2 жыл бұрын
If you plan on storing this in the sun 24 seven it’s probably not your best option. Hence why most dinghy companies make covers for their boats.

I am leary of an inflatable boat getting punctured when out on the lake
@adventureswithosidekayakguy2 жыл бұрын
As are most. You know it’s an inflatable boat, accidents are gonna happen. You’ll be on a lake so you’re most likely gonna be within distance from shore. Unlike an ocean. When you get a hole in the boat it’s not gonna pop like a balloon like most people think. Most likely you’re going to get a pin sized hole it’s going to lead out very slowly. And if it’s a sunny day you probably won’t even notice you have a whole until you get back home is the sun is constantly hitting up the pontoon and filling it back up with hot air.
