Makes me want to find my dad’s linesman pliers now. Excellent job sir! Quick Update: I found three pair. Large, medium and small. The medium were stamped “M Klein” with a another stamp “Chicago USA” on the other side. He worked for the Bell 🔔 System for 40 years!

So kind of you to gift those beautiful pliers back to the man that’s been so generous with his dad’s ok’d tool. Ihave a similar pair of those Craftsman pliers. They are so cool with the embellished handles. Great job. Finally, got a barn lantern restoration video of a Embury Air Pilot, it was a challenge.

There is nothing like boxes of free tools! It makes you wonder how they could manufacture and finish tools so nicely and still sell them affordably. You’re hard pressed to find something comparable today. I think the closest you can get to these old pliers and hand tools is Channellock, but even then their fit and finish has gone down a lot. Utica, Kraeuter, Klein, etc all made such beautiful tools. Beautiful work! I can’t imagine how nice they feel in the hand. Looking forward to the treasure trove of restorations to come!

Very nice haul. Your doing a very nice thing for him. I am sure he will treasure it. I also enjoy talking to the older generation. I can still learn from them. Although l am getting old enough to be one of them. My son is that way to. Before covid we would go to auctions and he has some old farmers that he gets with and asks questions about tools. Good times. Stay safe and healthy my friend. Thanks

That is so cool to get those tools from Tony and Renee! With the passing of my mom now and step dad in the past, I got ahold of some tools to play with. A few electronics too. Got a nice older true RMS Fluke meter. It powers on just needs new leads. Also a nice little Weller pen torch/soldering propane soldering pen. Good stuff, get a video of presenting them to him. Those pliers turned out beautiful! I am always impressed with your flap wheel talent, I could never get things that nice! I do practice on old railroad spikes.

WOW! What a score. Quick story: I tried to use your 1x30 sander with a stick method to restore my fathers meat cleaver...came out like ocean waves. I resorted to my body work experience to make it right. Moral of the story: Not everyone can be Scout Crafter :) You da man!
@ScoutCrafter
@ScoutCrafter 4 жыл бұрын
It’s true the stick method sometimes is difficult to use on large flat surfaces I find it really comes in handy for manipulating the bell to get into certain areas that normally the flat belt would skip over. For example when I was doing the face of the pliers in order to flatten out the entire face I use the stick and up-and-down motion and it really works well. However every once in a while sometimes the stick will leave slight marks on a tool it’s not for every job that’s for sure. Thanks so much! 😃👍

So much I'd like to comment on. I get the impression you get along quite well with people older then you. I've always had and still have that most of the time. Love the aluminum pipe wrench! I’ve had a 24” aluminum pipe wrench since the ‘70s. I used it often I’m my work as a compressed air specialist. The brand name was Schick. That’s tight, the razor manufacturer. During the Viet Nam war the government ordered Schick to manufacture aluminum helicopter blades. After the war they had a bunch of special aluminum left over & they decided to make tools. They made pipe wrenches and adjustable (crescent) wrenches. I bought the pipe wrench & an 18” adjustable wrench. The adjustable wrench didn’t last long. I broke the stationary jaw off using a cheater pipe on the handle. DUMB. I still have the pipe wrench though. THe handle is beat up from hammers though. Despite that it still works as designed. One of my favorite tools.

Those pliers look great now. My grandfather was an electrician and he gave me a one of his old lineman pliers and of course the handles weren't insulated. Well I'm glad I used my newer ones with the insulated handles because I removed the wrong fuse from the circuit and cut into a hot wire . It blew out a notch in the cutters and splattered molten copper on my eyeglasses but at least I wasn't shocked. Needless to say I test a circuit to make sure it's dead now.
@ScoutCrafter
@ScoutCrafter 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff. Believe it or not the electrical tape isn’t rated for much voltage at all. When you buy a pair of truly insulated pliers they usually come with a rating of what the pliers are good for voltage wise. I have a pair of Gedore pliers that are good for like 1000 V! The insulated handles are amazing on those. Thanks! 😃👍

Back in the day I was always tempted to razz my electrician friends for driving full size vans when the only tools they ever used were a couple of screwdrivers, a hacksaw and linesman pliers.
