SCP-107 | The Turtle Shell (SCP Orientation)

SCP Orientation is an archive of files of the SCP Foundation.
Today we will be studying item number SCP-107: The Turtle Shell, Object class: Safe.
SCP-107 resembles the top section of a hollow turtle shell. The shell is composed of a hardened biological material of unknown origin. The item is completely inert until the inside of the turtle shell comes into contact with a liquid; when it does so, said liquid appears to be absorbed very quickly.
Once active, the red edge of the shell glows dimly, and the substance placed into the shell begins to precipitate in the atmosphere and fall as 'rain'. This phenomenon is mobile: moving SCP-107 will move the area of effect, along with the 'exclusion zone'.

Honestly out of all the scps I've heard about or read on I think I like this one the most. It's probably also one of the few potentially dangerous ones I'd love to test with as well, stuff like honey or sterilised water could be interesting, or even just sticking just a little bit of pitch through it and seeing if it would reject that as well.

Probably mildly antimemetic, anything with the symbol on it is ignored by the brain unless directed to it from an outside source or intense focus is applied. Staff are then immunized against it with a second antimeme focused on ignoring the effects of the first.

Ok, what if you filled it with liquid O2? Like a stupid amount. Would the O2 sublimate on the way down? And would it have a long range effect on the atmosphere? I would suggest liquid nitrogen, but that kind of reaction by it to the atmosphere could well suffocate anything exposed to it, so that test would be potentially catastrophic. Another test that might be a bad idea or a good one, suppose you had a liquid medicine of some kind into the object. Would it have any effect on persons exposed? Would the plants develop anomalous medical properties? Also, a few types of liquid amnestic compounds, including the compound produced by the great serpent? Would it mass produce harvestable compounds? Would plants in the test area develop anomalous amnestic properties? Please be cautious with these tests. Idea: Use the coffee machine to request the liquid form of SCP 500, aka the cure all pill. Then test 107 with THAT liquid. Think about it... You could have the ability to make MORE of SCP 500 in liquid form. Since SCP 107 only seems to work with liquids, ergo using a SCP that can give requested items in liquid form... Could prove useful.

I don't know why they went from regular tap water straight to urine and blood. I would've tested different qualities of water first, like fresh spring water, muddy puddle water, etc. Then I would've tested how liquidy it had to be to be considered a liquid. I'd just make the muddy puddle water thicker and thicker. Then I'd test weird stuff like maple syrup or human saliva.

SCP 009 is Red Ice a form of anti water that freezes when hot and liquifies when cold. 009 can convert any liquid into more red ice which includes the water inside living beings.

I was disappointed by the second to last experiment, deuterium has some interesting properties and heavy water is expensive and difficult to produce. 1 kg of heavy water is $1,250.00 today (price from Sigma Aldrich, when I was starting out in chemistry and chemical engineering it was between $20,000-$30,000 for 1 ml but that was back in 2003, methods of execution have improved). If you could collect all the heavy water from a 2 day torrential rain of the stuff ... in addition to heavy water making excellent reactor coolant (heavy water has nearly the same properties of water plus it absorbs radiation). Pure deuterium (D²) makes the best hot fashion reactor fuel. The only problem is we don't have very much of it. If an SCP could provide giant tanks of the stuff ... oh well.

I'm surprised there isn't a dehumidifier in its containment to keep gaseous form potential liquid from possible condensation due to a possible containment breach from other anomalies possibly causing such an incident to occur. But I'm also surprised this isn't Thaumiel and possibly gifted to the MCF in exchange for something they have and cannot contain or use, as they would use this with only beneficial intentions and only in ways the Foundation would stipulate in the exchange, and they would guard it heavily due to its potential for helping humanity as well as the agents from the Foundation assigned to the anomaly, also included in the exchange, that could then report the Charity's actions from within without needing to work undercover.

Strange I know about this one. It's like none of the data in this video was new to me. I was already familiar with the SEP & am fond of the turtle shell. I even remember my reactions & I'm having the same reaction agian. Seriously why would you put pee in such a thing.
