SCP Orientation is an archive of files of the SCP Foundation.
On today’s agenda - Item number SCP-119: Timecrowave, Object class: Euclid.
SCP-119 is a Panasonic Microwave Oven. SCP-119 appears to be a standard model of microwave in all respects except that the magnetron unit does not produce microwave radiation. Instead, the magnetron emits a previously unknown type of radiation that accelerates time. The amount of time accelerated is based on the time input given at the start, and the power level setting.
Warning: Should living creatures be exposed to SCP-119 for extended durations, they could quite quickly die of starvation, as they will require as much sleep and food as they would outside of SCP-119.

@@BaoHadir it specifically mentioned that the radiation affects only a partial area which the radiation can travel. In the paint drying experienced, the further floor only dried at half the efficiency. So you would need a spinning apparatus to spin the barrel along while ensuring it gets bathed in radiation equally. This also creates a dilemma in that, as the radiation reflects the time passed, you have to spin relative to the speed it should pass with time. Assuming you can make 3 spins per minute, you need to condense those spins into whatever time you set it to - say 20 years worth of 3 spins per minute I assume...

EDIT: Below is my comment that I was typing up about the scotch experiment but they it got answered for me LOL. I understand where the author was going but as far as the scotch experiment, aging doesn't work like that. The alcohol only "ages" in it's wood barrels. Once it's moved into the glass bottle, it's aging has stopped. You can age the scotch for 12 year in the barrel, then leave it in it's glass bottle for 50 years ... and it will still be a "12 year old scotch" as it won't mature or age anymore outside of its wood barrel. Distilleries really do have vast warehouses of 53 gallon barrels that they store for decades. Once the scotch/whisky/bourbon/wine etc are moved from wood to glass, the vintage is set and ageing stops.

You know this, and other, SCPs have always brought up a question for me: This is SCP-119 yet they tested it with SCP-442, I always assumed the numbering of SCPs was in the order of discovery/possession. But this doesn't support that, so I wonder how the numbering system works.

The numbering system is just a roster of designations. If an scp of a certain number was deemed no longer anomalous or destroyed, the number is freed up and reassigned to a new scp. Also, occasionally some scps are updated by their authors to reference newer scps or new interactions with existing scps.

You could kill scp 682 with this. In the termination logs for scp 682, there’s another scp used that is a cool book that changes its recipes when someone touches it. If that person touches it and consumes one of the recipes, they die. They did this with the lizard and found that all of them were impossible. A few were even a memetic kill agent. But one specifically said that the dish needed to chill for a few trillion years. HOW COME NOBODY THOUGHT TO SLAP A GARUNTEED DEATH SANDWICH IN THIS THING?!?

Napkin Math time! Ill be using 5 trillion years as the few trillion years part - We will assume max settings which is 999 seconds ( or 16 mins 38 seconds) . Which was stated to be 31,529,964 years of aging. 31529964 goes into 5000000000000 exactly 158579.312.. will round down to 158579. 158579 multiplied by 999 equals 158420421 seconds... or slightly over 5 years of running it around the clock.. While a doable timeframe, it would essentially have to be monitored around the clock 24/7/365 resetting the time each time, never forgetting etc etc to do.

To be fair, they really let this thing go in the last few years. We don't understand how it works, but it is otherwise safe to use, though Euclid due to that one incident with...well, that's a story for another time. Currently I think Dave is using it to 'cheat' at idle games like Clicker Heroes and Idle Evolve(Those things are freaking time rabbit holes) and Sheri got hold of it for a bit test something she heard as a joke in a webcomic. Turns out Howard Taylor was right, and in about 1000 years, MREs actually become edible. I think they've had him under surveillance since them to see if he got that from somewhere.

Why is putting scp 289 inside of 119 for 90 seconds on power level 5 a bad idea

Scp 289 is a rock that affects objects' inertia. The longer an object is near Scp 289, the harder it is to change the object's (or person's) inertia. The change is gradual, and leaving Scp 289's effect radius does not immediately make the inertia changes wear off. This can go two ways. If the entity affected by Scp 289 isn't moving, then moving the object becomes harder to move the longer it is in Scp 289's vicinity. If the entity affected by Scp 289 is moving while in it's vicinity, then it becomes harder to stop, even if the entity is a person and tries to stop themselves. If placed in the microwave, I'm sure such a drastic time speed up on a power setting like 3 or above would instant doom whoever presses the start button to either be instantly stuck in place, or instantly ripped apart on a molecular level as their body's various moving and unmoving parts are affected individually, and immediately, due to Scp 119's time displacement effects. Anything moving would rip right through the Earth with ease, and anything not moving would very likely never move again.
