It seems to be a very author-specific attribute in these stories. Some have very sympathetic interviewers, some have Judge Dredd in a lab coat, threatening to execute any SCP or SCP victim that creates even the smallest bit of paperwork,for them. Its very inconsistent, which is natural to an open source IP.
@Center-For-I.E.D.Mismanagement4 ай бұрын
@Zargabaath How is The Foundation not a glorified prison?
@Crow_Smith4 ай бұрын
It does seem random based on author. TheVolgun has read some that are VERY sympathetic. That one about the creature that basically starts human and morphs into those mimicking skull-faced dog things? That one is so depressing because it seems like the person writing the report is as distraught as the very confused creature. And some interviews where they're EXTREMELY patient and polite with people who clearly are very upset/unsettled/disturbed. And then others they're like the most neutral toned "Sit down or I'm going to have you terminated." threats and 0 sympathy. It even seems in some cases higher ranked SCP people that DO have sympathy are most likely to offer themselves to experiment that likely will kill them because they've seen so many innocent people harmed/destroyed over the SCPs and the research that they just don't have it in them anymore to see someone else suffer. And honestly, one could make the argument that as some of the good ones filter in and /out/ - the foundation might start employing more and more heartless folks to avoid "turn over" so to speak.
@Dgeaurhedaikn4 ай бұрын
I do find the authors that write interviews like this really annoying too. Seems like they try to make the foundation seem more cool by making every doctor act like an action movie cop. But the foundation is interesting and threatening enough without every researcher having to be batman. I much prefer the ones where the interviewers are more desperate and compliant to the SCP instances. It makes the foundation feel a lot more insecure and it adds a lot of tension when they have to make compromises just to get a sliver of information. And it shows that the foundation isn’t just an infinitely powered organisation that can succeed by throwing prison slaves at every anomaly. They have real limitations that they must consider in different ways with each SCP. And each doctor isn’t an all powerful god commanding these anomalous forces. They’re almost all just ordinary people doing anything they can to keep things hidden and peaceful no matter the personal or ethical cost.

@dorkish2 ай бұрын
@@ilonachan yeah, it's a containment class, not a danger class, the new scp classifications are made to more accurately represent the scps danger. More older scps don't really have them but containment class always means how easy it is to contain, so yeah, even though it has the possibility to destroy the world, you can just lock it up really nicely (as the scp foundation usually does) and it won't really pose a threat at any point, unless someone is actively trying to get to it.

Literally the embodiment of "fuck around and find out"
@dafoex20 күн бұрын
Indeed. A gun would be considered "safe" to the foundation despite it being a tool designed with the sole purpose of ending life. It is only safe because you can leave it alone and it won't try to escape and/or harm people of it's own volition. Of course, this example isn't anomalous, but the point stands: lethal object remains inert unless specifically activated.

Fascinating so it’s a tarp of nightmares. It fabricates an ephemeral entity of possibly low humes based off of fears and regrets that drags its target into its territory and makes the subject into a real version of itself to become their worst fear. I suspected it made them into the 2nd entity and seemed confirmed by the time it got to the clown part. This one was very well done, and used clues and subtlety and nuance. This is a really good one and each of the tests explored facets that were interesting to test its parameters such as placing it on the ground. Loved it and never seen this one before.

Well, remember the initial confusion about the very nature of the SCP. It started as just another monster sighting. It'd take a bunch of testing to determine what the thing even does, let alone the exact "rules" under which it operates. (And of course there's still a bunch more I'd be curious to do, personally, like whether a live camera feed would count as another person present - does it still activate if there's a live person "in front" of it and a camera filming it from "behind"? Does live feed vs. recording make a difference? What about a mirror placed so the person "in front" of it can also see "behind" it? Etc.)
@gearsoverdusk73034 ай бұрын
They have to run a bunch of tests to figure out what it does, how it triggers, what might stop it, and so on. Then they need to run more tests to see if has memetic ( mind/perception altering ) effects. Then they need to run tests to see what it actually does. Only *then* can they give it a designation of 'safe.' And remember... 'safe' only pertains to how easy it is to contain. Safe objects can be dangerous as frick if you're not careful with them.
