"Almost all of the other changes can have mundane explanations. [...] But going from knowing 14 languages to 7 is less explainable. Something is going wrong here." If I saw someone forget half of the languages it speaks, I would sooner consider the possibility they're suffering from dementia than suggest there's an anomalous property behind it.

This SCP reminds me a lot of SCP 1762 (Where the Dragons went) on how the foundations need to understand an anomaly is the very thing that ends up killing it. This makes me wonder if we really need to explain the unexplainable

There is a strange relationship between wonder and understanding. The less you understand, the more you wonder. The more you wonder, the more you want to understand. The more you understand, the less you wonder about what you understand, but the more you learn of the existence of things you don't understand. And then there is more you have to wonder about. I think that is the implication of having more dragons in the mountains. The foundation learned all there is to know about one thing, and in doing so, it lost all sense of wonder. But then learning all about it led to a new sense of wonder that there is more out there. It's that old parallel of shining a flashlight against a wall. The more you zoom out, the more is illuminated, but the more you learn there is more to illuminate.

This implies the inevitable fate of the foundation as well, not through any world ending anomaly or anything like that but just because once everything is explained by science there is nothing anomalous anymore and thus no point for the foundation to exist/receive new personnel and funding.

I find it very interesting and neat how the second document implements World War II or just history in general into the SCP world because it’s often forgot about that the SCP foundation isn’t just a separate world. All events in history happened to the same way they did in our world (given the exceptions of certain documents) and even universes that have the SCP foundation exist for hundreds of years never seem to mention real history. Like how it could affect them because the foundation (in most universes/cannons) didn’t really become this mega corporation of the anomalous until the late 20th century so real life wars would have affected them and could have very well damaged their secrecy plus the fact that the foundation doesn’t really like to get into the real world politics (for obvious reasons both in and out of universe) despite the fact that in their modern state they could just control the entire world easily.
@amusician6447 ай бұрын
This is one such example of why the Serpents hand is doing what its doing. They oppose the foundation because they probably know that the more the foundation understands the more anomalies would disappear.(In one timeline the foundation created a super AI that neutralized all anomalies) tho the SH probably considers the foundation a lesser threat since it will take time for the foundation to understand and the fact the foundation constantly loses anomalies to the insurgency and other groups compared to the GOC who is actively destroying them.

I believe that, even if we explain away everything, as long we keep a little bit of magic and whimsy inside of us, the dragons will still be alive. For me, it's all about not letting your fantasies die. You can have the serious and full figured out life, but we need some time away from it, where our inner child comes out and go play with the dragons.

You said in your community Post you wanted Feedback for this style of narration. I have to say i Prefer the calssic style of reading the SCP article itself. Getting the story like this feels like the suspense and the mystery of piecing together what happend yourself is lost, making the story less impactfull. However, if this is a style that helps you put out Videos faster, to appease the algorythm, i won't say anything.

A lot of parallels to right now. The moral of this one could be construed as follows: When someone you don’t know, and who doesn’t know you tells you: “this is for your own good” you better ask a lot of questions. In the end they’ll kill you whether they mean to or not. Never comply !
@mrbigsta42218 ай бұрын
That is not the moral, at least not how I see it. I think it goes something like “Growing up, the world slowly gets duller and duller as you discover more and more on how things work and why. Imagination is slaughtered and innocence is shot dead. Do not let your need for discovery kill out your imagination, don’t let it kill the magic they is left”

I dislike these "science dstroys magic" stories on the basis that science is supposed to observe and explain, not shackle. If a flying magic reptile exists, then science needs to accept flying magic reptiles exist, not tell me why flying magic reptiles don't exist and it will kill any flying magic reptiles that say otherwise.
