The scariest thing about scp 939 isn’t it’s gruesome appearance, or even that it hunts and kills without purpose or the ability to feed, it’s the mimicry. A surprisingly common trait among folklore monsters is the ability to mimic human voices, be it the cries of an infant or the voice of loved ones living or dead. It scares people because it turns the very herd instinct that kept us alive against us. Think about it, no one is going somewhere that reeks of danger, or do something that could likely get them killed, unless they have one hell of a motivator, nothing short of a friend desperately crying for help, or a baby in danger, anyone would go to help, it’s to protect those we love as well as children That’s why mimicry is the perfect hunting tool.

Imagine taking a walk through nature and finding some abandoned babies, you feel sorry for them and decide to adopt them since you always wanted to adopt children anyway, you raise them all their lives with love and affection as if they were yours and suddenly one day , after years without anything happening they tear their own skin, their heads fall off (they eat both their skin and their head) and they become scp 939... According to that episode, the Chaos were able to make off with the 939’s for a short while, until the Foundation managed to find them at an abandoned warehouse, kill them all and get the 939’s back. What’s was unusual about it though was that when one of the mtf’s approached a dying Insurgent, the Insurgent laughed at them and died. As if he knew something the mtf and the Foundation didn’t know, or that whatever the Chaos wanted with the dogs, they had already completed. The most peculiar thing about the entire situation was that the Chaos didn’t try to get away, they chose to hide out at the warehouse until the Foundation finally got to them for some reason. My theory for why the Chaos stole the dogs in the first place was because since the 939’s produce an amnestic that can lead people injected with it to the lairs of other 939’s, the Chaos stole them to harvest some of the amnestic venom the 939’s. With it, they could find more 939’s in the wild, and therefore produce more of the amnestic for the Chaos to use for their own goals. It makes sense why they went down so easily, and why in the end, the dying Insurgent is laughing at the mtf before he dies.
@rickdiaz4272 жыл бұрын
@@datwitchyswordfan The Chaos Insurgency got what they wanted long before the MTF arrived at the warehouse. What's the point in them eating their victims if they gain nothing out of it anyways? Just let 939 be alive. they already have enough things interesting about them without the whole "zombie" thing. and they'd make a whole lot more sense as a living creature.
@jackiesharp0182 жыл бұрын
I also feel the same way but more about their conversation. I feel like 939 is starting to take traits from O-06-20 where the traits worked. 0-06-20 however can not hold more conversation that it saying a hello when it approaches you and a goodbye when he kills you- but scp 939 I don't believe HAD high intelligence. Scp 939 has no need to converse beyond a few screams of terror so it makes no sense for it to have conversation unless it was a specimen raised around talking enough that it picked up sentences. However the scp foundation SHOULD be able to see cause and effect. And yeah I agree that zombie trait is kinda useless, I would talk about O-06-20s reason for killing but it is not at all fitting for 939 cause 939 doesn't mimic humans to the degree O-06-20 does. I strongly agree they should be alive instead of zombies, it would make the most sense for these creatures and would make them more terrifying because they would want to hunt humans because presumably 939s preferred prey is humans
@TamTroll2 жыл бұрын
@@jackiesharp018 from what I'm aware, the only 939 that's able to speak full sentences that make sense as a conversation is the one that they raised from birth (and later disected.) Because it's essentially identical to a human for it's first few years, they raised it in containment as a human child, it learned to speak and act like a human up until it started maturing into a 939 instance. other 939's may have never had this childhood, so they are more feral by nature and more mimicking screams and calls for help rather then holding conversations.

Did you avoid mentioning that the quotes you gave were from the adolescent 939 the foundation raised or was it retconned in the documentation? I mean you eventually got to the way these things mimic human forms in their larval stage so why not bring up that those quotes were specifically from one of those in particular?

Y'know, this perfectly explains why I sometimes hear my mom or someone else I know calling my name when I'm in public, only to realize that they in fact were not.

Oh god, I’d love to see a Scooby Doo/SCP Foundation crossover. Maybe even throw in Courage the Cowardly Dog too.

4:44 On the note of a title of a group of 939s, I propose that they're called a Conversation.

The foundation definitely made them and covered it up and released them into the wild. Got their agents to rediscover them later, like they just happen to produce amnestics is too convenient.

This reminds me of a film. A similar circumstance where a creature mimics one's voice. I can't for the life of me remember what it is though lol.

Sounds like a reproductive tract remains, despite the lack of other organs. Since the Foundation has tried to 'tame' these things, some things occurred to me. In many animals, neutering the individual and as a result reducing the hormonal impact of puberty may cause a reduction in aggression and / or an alteration of certain behaviors as adults, including bonding behaviors. Though there is a possibility sterilization may inhibit their maturation into their adult form, they still might be of use. Might completely mitigate the possibility of rogue units starting new colonies and spreading. Also, I wonder if the few people who saw these guys from a distance and upwind thought it a chupacabra or skinwalker or a number of other assumed legends. I could see such a sighting being attributed to a mangey disease ridden wolf as well... though I suppose that's the point of living in caves to take advantage of the enclosed air system. And it's known humans like crawling into weird places to draw pictographs while experiencing oxygen deprivation. The perfect place to hunt and hide from intelligent, communal groups of primates that love to hold grudges and gang up on their enemies.

Question, so obviously, scp 682 is unkillable. But what if we found a way to send him to the scarlet king. And somehow made them enemies. Just a thought.

Also. What if you used the scp 939 breath to erase scp 682 memory.
