SCP 966 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as Sleep Killer.
SCP-966 are predatory creatures that resemble hairless, digitigrade humans, possessing an elongated face with a mouth lined with needle-like teeth.
SCP966 are visible only at wavelengths ranging from 700 nm to about 900 nm.
SCP-966 feed on medium-to-large-sized animals, including humans.

@@purrl0ckh0lmes No, it's once you collapse and faint from exhaustion you are doomed. You can't normally sleep, because you won't be tired and the SCP cannot consume you. If it tries, you will wake up and they are known to be extremely physically weak, you could probably snap its neck with little effort.

Personally this one haunted me significantly for the first time in SCP database because I kinda linked this to a real life disease 'fatal familial insomnia' (a rare prion disease which causes insomnia that cannot even be alleviated by general anesthesia). Spooky when things seem so real

Well it seems like SCP-966 has not only a "color" in the IR spectrum, it also let visible light pass through it while being a solid with mass! I wonder what exotic material it's made of. EDIT: I mean, visible light it passes through it without any effect whatsoever, like refraction for instance.

@@bobiboulon from what I understand the sort of "invisibility" the creatures have is something similar to how birds can't see glass (at least on the human side) its not that they don't refract light, cause then they'd be blind from it shredding their eyes, it's that the light they do refract is at such low wavelengths that the human eye and brain can't process it. interestingly flowers use this kind of trick with the UV spectrum to attract pollinating insects like bees and wasps.

I think what holds this SCP back is the fact that they just randomly are invisible and want to eat humans. It seems pointless for them to cause insomnia just to kill the person with claws for sustenance. They could like eat dreams or something more unique?

From what I have remembered SCP-966 is really weak in combat. Their claws snap easily and was not really effective for hunting as well. I assume that their invisibility and their ability to make prey unable to sleep is an adaptation for its disadvantages. Also, SCP-966 doesn't just hunts humans, it also hunts other medium sized animals as well iirc

Like on top of eating prey, they need to lure it back to their nest to feed their young or something and make a big population of themselves. It just seems like a complex process for a pretty basic outcome (from their perspective at least, still sucks for the victim). Just something to complete their 'why' is all.

I have a way to finally remove SCP-682 permanently. This is a high-risk high-reward scenario, you will need to create a 80-90% clone of scp-682, that last 20 to 10% I suggest adding something to where it's more aggressive for the clone of 682. And then send it to a pocket dimension have those two duke it out. I understand there's a chance of the original or the Clone escaping and coming back here either one wouldn't be good but there is the likely chance that they would kill each other. Or they could team up which would also be bad, just a thought.
