Seems like the tree's with those fungas growing off of it might be bigger than 5 wide. Also seems to help if you drive forward just as you cut the tree to help it fall back. Though I think it might be a weight issue. Your clamps are too light, maybe use heavier blocks than the wire mesh.

How you could work with the old system: you add a tipping point above the saws, which also acts as a small ceiling and prevents stuff from going over the saws, and make the pushing mechanism as far up as possible without it missing the smallest trees.

Why put the tree on top of the car, when you can make a car that rides over the fallen tree and lowers itself down? I've made one like that, 3 blades, 2 pistons, 5 resource collectors, works great

make a loop for the saws so they go backwards and forwards automatically when on.

I think the big trees with mushrooms have a strange hit box that allows you to weld them but it is slightly larger than normal.
