Most of my experience with train systems comes from Minecraft, where you make a terminal and select your destination and it is programmed with redstone to just take you there.

I've built rail systems in Minecraft like this and they can actually be kind of complicated. I built one ages ago that used a number of pulses based on what your destination was to change switches at the appropriate station. It broke my head trying to work out the redstone logic for pulse-counting.

As someone who apprenticed as Machine Repair, let's say Engineering Lite, I really appreciate the view of a previously non-mechanical person becoming more experienced and competent with mechanical devices. A lot of the things you built today are represented in Manufacturing for product flow, and according to some more train-oriented commenters, your design mimics reality with train switches. You even engineered independent controls to steer from your driver's seat. Good work.

4:46 to keep trains from derailing like this, things called guard rails, or check rails, are used. They are on the inside of the rails at the gap at the end of points and guid the wheels the correct direction.

This will be a pretty good idea because dogfight where pretty much impossible because hitting someone is really hard but with the gunner separately aiming at the other craft while the pilot can focus on dodging makes it easier.

hiya ScrapMan, I just wanted you to know the name of a part of the switch. It has 2 names, the main name is a frog and the secondary name is a common crossing. The frog is the part where the straight closure Rail and curved closure rail intercept at the dividing point between the main route and diverging route. No they do it both ways for example: On mainline railways it is automatic, which is controlled by people on computers And in most freight yards it is done by hand with a switch beside the tracks

This is so funny at the same time this video uploaded there was a giant war in my survival world with my friends in scrap mechanic and there was a train system like yours and my friends was in the train(there was 25 people on the train btw i have to many friends) anyways the back of the train my friends uh il call them jack and uh UH melopede thats a weird name anyways the back of the train my friend jack and melopede(these arent my real friends name btw) was like super dramatic and like bandits stealing a train full of gold and THEY KILLED ALL OF THE PASSANGERS ALL 23 but some fought back but died and they just like join the vc and i just WHY DID U KILL ALL DA PASSENGERS and jack just say WHERES THE HAY and i just like what hay and then melopede just like YEAH THE HAY OR DIE btw i dont even know theres hay in the game is there even hay in the game and i say i dont have hay and they killed me and they died cause of a train crash cause we made the train realistic when it hits something or fell it will explode and that was the worst day ever cause we lost all our stuff the ko bags were exploded idk how or it flung somewhere cause of the exploding and we restarted yay jack and melopede YAY i hate jack and melopede Jk i still love them

Building the sensor further away from the mechanism should make it more Safer až higher speeds and, "when turning but the other mechanism is set to straight" teoreticaly you can put another sensor in between the two mechanisms. Hope it Works tho. :-D

Multiplayer Monday idea: train race but with Teams of two and one person races and the other has to control the rails. So you and your partner have to cooperate to get to the finish line. There are three rounds and you and your partner switch out every round. Please see this.

Multiplayer monday idea: If there 4 player 2 player will be driving cars with mounted spudgun The other 2. 1 is driving the train the other is shooting If there 3 player 1 will drive the car with spud gun The other 2. 1 is driving the train the other is shooting Or it could be backward 2 driving car 1 driving the train with no protecting (the shooter) Rules: Sames as always *BUT* Maximum 2-3 spud gun All material must use from cardbox ( not all stuff be use from cardbox like engines, bearing etc Edit: *Put explosive in the train so the enemy can destroy the choo choo train* Edit 2: put explosive at the end of the tracks so it mean the train win and the cars lost

The wedges that touch the outside track are backwards. How you have it set up, practically makes a 90° angle. However if you flip it 180 and use the longer wedges it would make a smoother transition

Wow. Did my comment directly influence a video? I tried to set something up using the included rails and points parts in one of the mod packs but I can't remember which. Needless to say I wasn't very successful because of collisions not allowing me to use bearings at track level.

There is a good video by Hyce “Switches 101” / “Switching 101” that explains how they work. To keep your wheel going the right way, you need a guide rail on the other side to keep the flange on the wheel going the right way, hence why the outsides in either direction have them.

I made a super simple solution on my train for those parts. Have a block extend down the side of the wheel "holder" using a Piston. This block keeps the wheels in place while going past and they don't get stuck
