Hey Joe I don't know if you're still out there, this is an old video but I just came across it. I have a ton of stuff that doesn't work anymore. I am fortunately a mini hoarder. OR I should say a mini saver until the time is right. I don't like to throw things out for this exact reason. I never knew there was money to be made by taking apart electronics that don't work anymore. Actually I have a big pile of stuff I was tired of looking at and was gonna just throw it all out. I'm SOOO glad I found your page! It might be worth me taking the time to break everything down. Every penny counts right? Quick question, do you know what can be done with tv's, vcr's, printers and the like? I just switched out my printer cartridges and there is a small patch there on the bottom that looks liker copper or some other metal. Are they worth saving for scrap? I hope too hear from you, Thanks Joe!

This is a very good video from someone who actually does what he says. Joe, do you only recycle PC parts or is this just one part of other things you also recycle? Also, where do you find enough PCs to make this profitable or do you just keep what you happen to come across until you do get enough to sell? Thanks for the video.

Hello Joe, thx for the video minus afew things like the handling of ram and procs then trying to sell on eBay. But just curious if you can make money from the chassis aswell? If so what do you think the figures would be like and would it be worth it? Thx for any info u can send my way!~Namaste

Different coloured motherboards do not mean they're made in China. If you're looking around for "Made in USA" on a motherboard, you're in the wrong business.
@spudth3 жыл бұрын
17 years ago I worked for a company that needs printed circuit boards or "PCB's" . We dealt with a SMALL company in chicago area that was the BIGGEST usa company. Went to another small startup there too. Not sure where they stand today.

Thanks for the comment flashcraft. I actually recycle any metal that I can get my hands on. I collect pc's from repair shops, the scrap yard, trash cans and even other scrappers. I save up until I get about a thousand dollars worth or I have a bill due and need the money.

you'd make alot more money by taking the hard drives apart and selling the alluminum housing and the platinum disks seperately to the metal scrap yards

How do you find a scrap yard that will buy computer components? I asked around the ones near me and none of them do.
@brandonwertz8610 жыл бұрын
You forgot heat sinks which are always aluminum and better grade ones have nice slabs of copper infused with them. I also keep my hard drive boards in their own pile. There's more precious metals in them than most motherboards (not just gold)

I feel bad for the poor saps that think the parts that you're selling on ebay is actually going to work.
@ScrapmanJoe10 жыл бұрын
I clearly say that the parts are for scrap gold only and I mark the condition as 'not working' . Anyone who buys gold ram by the pound with all the info listed, should not be allowed to have money.

parts can be used in different types of project. if not, why those people like to purchase it? they're rich of silver, copper, aluminum, palladium, iron, gold, tantalum, platinum, iridium and boards re-use it for another project.

when it comes to mother boards why not remove the heat sinks and copper that's good money? I do the same stuff this dude does and its well worth doing
@ScrapmanJoe9 жыл бұрын
silverado708 The motherboard is $2.60 per pound. Aluminium is 50cent a pound. Solid copper heat syncs MIGHT be worth removing but not likely.
@silverado7089 жыл бұрын
***** they pay the same in my area on motherboards and aluminum but the copper on the motherboards is number one copper. its a lot of work if your willing to do it but the copper at around 3 bucks a pound is worth it to me may not be worth doing for all I do like what you do nothing wrong with it
