Paul, you are a good person. I had different feelings when that man told you to get out of his dumpster. As long as you were not in his dumpster, you would think he would want the metal to be recycled. You handled it like the good man you are. But, I still think he should’ve said, sure I’ll put the metal aside. How much would that hurt him, nothing.😢
@phloxxic13872 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who would hurt themselves climbing into or around the sharp metal, nails and etc or even slip and fall while digging into the dumpster and then turn around and sue the construction outfit because they got hurt. If the guy leaves the stuff outside of the dumpster it is a risk to the general public (think kids or people just passing by). No-win situation for him. Honestly, I was a little concerned at the risks Paul was taking when he climbed up on the side of his truck bed and leaned way into the dumpster like he did. Even Paul was concerned about what he did when he stopped and thought about it.

Hi Paul, first an update. The cancer is in remission and I am finally back home after 3 1/2 months. I agree with you about that man. With the way things are now where someone could sue you if you hurt them while they are breaking into your house. The liability that hangs over the company that owns that dumpster would be outrageous. I don't want you to get hurt. Sadly, had I been there, I would have been inside the dumpster passing those pipes to you. It's a good thing someone like him Steps up to keep us safe.

Ugh so sorry that guy has no time for doing an ounce of effort to help the planet. Let's hope whatever team leader he is to make those decisions that he doesn't do many projects. Let the scrap be scrapped...figure out a safe way and let it happen. In California they are strict about construction trash and recycling. My husband works commercial construction and he says you have to commit to disposing of drywall, metal, etc… responsibly. It is a little bit of a cost and can be a pain BUT it is the right thing to do. Of coarse some crews will ignore and just send to landfill. This middle age girl would be doing what your doing with hesitation as well. People complain about strict recycling/disposal laws in CA. But it is the right thing to do. Shoot if it was me….I would have said what can I do to help you get all the metal. More room in dumpster, less expense getting another dumpster. But I feel ya….I am basically uncomfortable, determined but uncomfortable with such an encounter.

I'm glad you differentiated picking up residential disposed waste (totally up for grabs) vs dumpster disposed waste (not!). Not many people realize that curbside picking is legal, but there are even more people do not realize that the legality does not apply to dumpsters because the Supreme Court's decision hinges on the phrase "reasonable expectation of privacy." Such reasonable expectation does not apply to curbside trash, making it a free-for-all. However, reasonable expectation of privacy does exist with dumpsters. And as you said, there are also safety concerns with dumpster diving. And that's probably why some places can get away with having ordinances or laws in place in regard to trash picking because they view it as less a privacy issue and more of a public safety issue.
@ScrapPalletMan2 жыл бұрын
I hear what you're saying, though the privacy issue isn't the issue. In both cases it's reasonable to assume it's abandoned
@noahellis36722 жыл бұрын
I can only imagine how much scrap ironpipe was still inside that dumpster when that guy told you to stop picking and now it's going to the landfill. It's too bad that they didn't get a scrap metal dumpster to sort their construction debris with. But apparently he didn't want to be bothered with going that extra mile even though it would save them on extra dumping fees. Either way I still enjoyed the video. Way to go on the bass guitar, by the way.
