Did my first trash picking yesterday! I was walking through the alley here in Chicago, and saw 2 cast iron dutch ovens. I took pics and sent them to a pastor friend who leads our spring and fall camping trips. Asked if he wanted them, and his response was ABSOLUTELY YES. One was full of petrified chili, the other was full of rainwater. He's going to rescue and season both for use when we're camping. If he didn't want em, I would have taken them anyway for MY scrap and pallet man. He takes our pallets from the Pantry that we can't get rid of every week and when the church did a massive clean out of 2 basements, we loaded up his truck with all kinds of scrap. He's gonna haul away the 500 pound commercial freezer that died on us when we get the grant for the new one.

If you want to know a tip on those shelves, I cut the cross braces in half with tin snips then just push one of the sides down toward the other side, it'll make it longer but more manageable for space. Keep your fingers on top so they don't get pinched when it collapses, usually they are light enough just pushing with your palms works.

That armoire is/was a computer work station. The pull-out shelf was for the keyboard, the bench in the lower part of the armoire was where the printer went (and the paper box went below the printer). The CRT monitor went on the shelf above the keyboard, the shelves up high were for books and software boxes. The fold-out part was the desk extension for putting notepads or other papers.

I never thought that I would follow a scrapper channel but here I am. Just a little info about me....I am from Fort Wayne IN. I retired from GE after 32 years and I drove semi for them in ten states. I probably went to GE in Dekalb to pick up about once a week between 76 and 82. Dekalb was a nice college town 40 years ago. If you could, could you swing past 1900 Pleasant St. and take some video. Perhaps you know what they are using that building for now. Actually, I used to go on those scales in Dekalb as we pulled some pretty heavy loads of motors out of Dekalb GE heading for Louisville KY. If you happen to film GE, just say that you are filming it for Radar as that was my CB handle. I was a dead-ringer for Gary Burghoff on MASH....back in the day. I also appreciate your forewardness on your Christian faith. Please post more scrapping videos. My wife of 55 years loves them.

Hey Robert. I've lived in DeKalb 5 years. The GE plant closed about a year before I moved here. I looked on Google maps and can't tell if the old GE plant is the empty field or the large empty industrial buildings. If it's the old buildings I would love to walk around and explore. That would be awesome. Thanks for being a part of the channel. I appreciate it. Say hello to the Mrs and I appreciate the family watching the videos

Thanks for the "smiles" appreciated it today! God blessings 2 U always. Button down shirts for after surgery at least 2 sizes larger...I've actually had surgery where couldn't raise my arms for several weeks a couple of different times, for around the house I found larger hospital scrubs were the best. Plus give you the much room needed for any brace you may have to wear, with regular shirts its much harder I found. I could put the scrubs on without raising my arms put on really easily, pants had drawn sting and they are made of cotton. So very comfy to lounge and keep on to sleep. Hospital supply stores sell them relatively inexpensive (lighter weight best) many different colors to pick from made it fun, not the same every day. I'm sure you can wear hospital gown home for first day or two. Sorry about your pain, I understand how any kind of pain can be so uncomfortable. Many times intolerable for me I get through it by couple different ways the best one being prayer... May Jesus give you the strength needed to do your route as you await the surgery date. I believe He is one who in control of all things including healing, guilding the doctors as they perform your surgery. For that give all the praise, honor, glory with our thanks and all our love. Amen.

Tried taking a bunch of stuff to my local metal place, couldn't offload anything that had plastic or wood attached to it. It sucks cause that's my local landfill too.

Any type thing that fits in the bed...of his truck...here comes the scrapping man. Can he tie with his rope, all kinds of knots yes he's no dope... Safety first yes tie it down as he scraps all over town... Praise God we have the scrapping man. Praise God we have the Scrapping mannnnn! Hey i tried😅

Paul your videos are so relaxing to watch every night. Im truly fascinated that you take all the metal to recycle it. Might a person be able to take their own metal to the scrap yard? I personally always try and do better for the environment but never thought of where items such as the ones you collect end up. Thanks for your heart to help the environment!! God bless you. -christine
