an electronics person would have loved that transformer core you can get a hell of a lot of windings on one audiophiles building huge amps need lots of power or rewound to make a better welder winding is so easy

you would have been better off restoring and selling it - old arc welders like that actually go for some coin these days when cleaned up - easy $100

It's this type of stuff that gives scrappers a bad name. Perfectly good welder someone could have gotten a lot of use out of but you destroyed it for $4. This is why I quit leaving scrap out for people.

Try scrapping junk engines. They have lots of holes to look into.
