Thank you for this video. Learned a lot on how to put the backing on without laying it on a big background after making the Dresden plate like a lot of the ones I have seen. Love your way better. Thank you, made my day.

You have a gift for accurate description and easy to understand instruction. I understood everything you said except for one thing and I think it was about measurement or stitch size. I have seen dozens of quilting videos and this is among the best. Thank you, Fern Fisher

Thanks for watching. Most of the time i use a length of 2 on my sewing machine when sewing with a straight stitch. It's a good all purpose length. I'm not sure if that cleared anything up but feel free to ask if it didn't! :-)

Awesome video! How would you put rounded ends on the Dresden instead of points?
@ScrappyPatch4 жыл бұрын
Just don't do anything to the blades when you cut them out. Just sew them together as is and that will give you a circle
@lisass356525 күн бұрын
Beautiful quilt. Is there a pattern available? If not , would 3 layer cakes be enough for a queen size quilt.

I just made 2 dresden plates. You instructions were a little different but I want to try this your way. The only thing I am not sure of is where exactly to clip the inside of the points 2 snips??
@marilynsnyder11235 жыл бұрын
Do you think it is absolutely necessary to use batting? I made a Dresden plate out of my brother-in-law’s neckties. My sister will use this on her coffee table. Only decorative objects will go on it-nothing hot or cold.
@ScrappyPatch5 жыл бұрын
no you don't have to use batting if you don't want to.

After turning it right side out, my “valleys” are puckering on the back of the piece, even though I clipped them. Any suggestions? Thanks!!
@ScrappyPatch3 жыл бұрын
I would iron them with steam and give them a pull while doing so.
@debraressel66414 жыл бұрын
Great instructions but just wandering about quilting after you turn it, to keep it from bunching when you wash it. Is that a good idea or No? Does it bunch if not quilted after turned?
@ScrappyPatch4 жыл бұрын
You can do an all over quilting if you want, but when you sew around the circle and top stitch around the sides it is enough to keep everything in place

@susancollins83206 жыл бұрын
@@ScrappyPatch I must have did something wrong then..i extended my 12" template to 15" like you had shown in the video and my attempt with 20 blades made about a semi circle that measured about 45" across
