Truly marvellous Michael, it really is. The slope on which the build sits, although slights adds so much realism. The fire exits are brilliant as well - I can almost smell the beautiful aroma inside! And the clocktower with the illumination - wow. A great video, many thanks for posting, Ian

Hahah. You really can smell those fire escapes can’t you!? I am over the moon with how well the slope worked out. It is very subtle but when you get your head right down beside it, it looks so real. Sadly the camera doesn’t pick up on it very well. Episode 3 in this series will show how I made it.

I had model railways when "I was a lad" as they say. Since then my hobbies have included sailing (mainly in the Irish Sea), large scale radio controlled aircraft, playing in several R&B groups and renovating a 19thC French farmhouse. Now happily retired I was looking for a new hobby - and was I inspired when I chanced across this video. Absolutely stunning, with attention to detail which brought back memories of building aircraft for scale competitions. So a rejuvenated hobby combined with a wonderful childhood memory. Many thanks for this and I will start watching from episode 1 for ideas and methods to build my first N Gauge train set. Brilliant. Stay safe, kind regards

@@flippop101 It means a lot if an architect is watching and not hiding his face behind his hands! Another enjoyable episode! I really appreciate your methodical approach at scratch-building structures. It has totally changed the way I look at building them. Also, your series on using Inkscape to design your building has given me tremendous insight on the use and value of this excellent software! Thanks. PS - Have you considered adding a 5-10W diode laser engraver/cutter to your tool/equipment inventory to do all of the cutting that you currently do by hand? Just curious...
@Chandwell3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I do sometimes ponder a cutter of some type. But I have such a limited budget I can always think of a million other things I would rather have, at least while my eyesight is good, my hands are steady, and I don’t have arthritis. I do get an amazing sense of satisfaction when I remember the hours of cutting by hand when I look at the layout. I think a cutter or a 3D printer would perhaps dilute that sense of satisfaction, so for now.... I’m sticking scalpel. 😀😀👍🏻
