Hey NL, one quick way to get that hired help requirement for the short cut. On the Kingu boss fight (turtle man) there's a hired help in the water below the fight. You can free him and make a mad dash to the exit to make sure he lives. Hope this helps and love the content.

You can use the freeze gun to freeze the guy and just take all of his stuff. The freeze gun is not lethal. Remember normally when stealing you want to stun him with a rope, take his gun and run away.

Hey NL, here's a shopkeeper tip: If you steal from the shop keeper on floor 2 without killing him, and then you avoid killing him on floor 3, he'll forgive you by floor 4. At the beginning of the video when you pulled what you want to the front of the shop and put something else at the back of the shop, that's the way to do it, then just grab the thing you want and book it. If the level geometry has a wall right away, you'll usually be able to get away with it.

Spelunky Tech: 1) Quillback won't roll if you're too close to him. 2) Practice back-whipping. It comes out faster and hits higher. It's great to take out bats, and several things.

NL a good tip for shopkeepers with freeze rays, shoot them but dont kill them. While they are frozen steal the goods and run, that way if you avoid the shopkeepers on the next floor without hitting/jumping on them you will be forgiven!

Just so you know, at 20:30, you actually can glean that there definitely *is* a black market on the level, because you can hear its music. When on the back layer, you can hear the black market music if it's on that floor. If it isn't, you'll still hear the normal jungle music (though it'll be a quieter).

The lack of curiosity to check out the area above Tiamat that: 1) The bubbles want to bring you to. 2) Qilin was designed to fly to, and 3) he generally has the jetpack and climbing gloves to get to anyway, is probably the most frustrated I've felt about a NL video. I might as well be watching people who read tutorial signs and disregard them five seconds later at that point.

Hey NL, I think there's always a coffin in the water of 4-4 (Abzu, where you fight turtle-man), because that's where you unlock Tina (yellow lady). You can kill him, then go get the coffin for tunnel-lady.

NL, Quillback jumps before he tucks into his roll. You could literally get on the floor and just run at him, and he would jump over you and roll onward. You don't need to stay on the ladders-those are the trap.

If you're thinking about stealing from a shopkeeper who has a freeze ray, just use it on him (but don't shatter him) and run. It doesn't hurt him after he thaws, and you'll be forgiven at the same pace as a grab and run theft, but it's way easier.

I think the biggest bit of advice i could give that really helped me progress, particularly in the early game is utilising the back and up swing of the whip. Great for dealing with bats and enemies on ledges above you.

Hey NL, u should try the strat to just steal from the shopkeepers, u still get the shotgun and they forgive u in one floor. Move all the items to the front and any items u need to wear just hold in ur hand then use the rope on him to disarm him, steal his gun, and then run out the front. You save so much money in the early game which is real good for the jungle route

when getting the jungle idol, instead of jumping the way you came, you can just exit stage left by sprinting over the one black gap. much easier and less likely to fail.

No when I kill tiamat without a gun, if I have paste then I cook a bomb before sticking her with it, she doesn't have enough time to throw it back, if you don't have paste then you need to be very particular about how you throw your bombs, idk if that's easier because I've never used the strat you just came up with, but I thought I'd let you know. great runs lately BTW!

Nice run ! I killed my first mairmaid with just my whip and the climber (no bomb and just 3 ropes)... it was a 10 min fight, but i managed to do that with 1 HP remaining at the very end (thanks to kadala !). What an epic first win ! :)

I learned to steal shops really easily by always stealing telepacks because it's so easy to flee. Just grab the item and book it and jump as soon as you are out of the shops bounds over the shotgun pellets then run away. The tricky part is dealing with the end of level shopkeeper next floor without hitting him to lose agro, this is very consistently easy on 1-4 which is why I ALWAYS steal on 1-3 if I can

NL, you can mine blocks infront and above you with the maddock by swigning and then immediatly jumping. You start the swing on the round and it then connects with the block mid jump!

NL. Someone has MASSIVELY misled you. If you have Qilin you do NOT need to fight Tiamat. Whoever made that guide is incorrect, I have with my own two eyes watched someone Qilin up to the secret at the top of the level and never once touched Tiamat.
