Mother Anasaya was dead in the burning temple as Sol and Osha are leaving it. But, no signs of Mother Coral. And, that segment was missing a lot of information, so obviously from Osha's point of view. I think the reason that they were both confused that the other survived is that Mother Coral saved Mae as Sol was focused on saving Osha. Each took a child to raise and train, opposite sides of the force. Mother Coral is much more likely to be the Dark Adept / Sith master. There was already foreshadowing that she thought Osha was too weak. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if she is the one that killed the other witches and destroyed the temple once Mother Anasaya mentioned Osha wanting to leave to be a Jedi. Then blamed it on the fire by Mae and used the regret that Mae might have had to strengthen her connection to the dark side, like Anakin. In addition to the anger against the 4 Jedi.

Yeah that fire in the temple scene was confusing. I get it became an electrical fire and spread throughout the temple. But wasn't clear how all/most of the witches died in one shot. Was that a gas leak? If they were crushed by rock that might have been more clear.

We were shown a presumably dead Mother Aniseya with no sign of Coral, so it makes more sense that Coral was involved in the coven dying and Mae fully breaking bad. Aniseya was fully against the Jedi taking her girls, but when Osha said she wanted to leave the coven to become a Jedi, Aniseya grudgingly and tearfully allowed her to go. Although I don't deny that Aniseya could be the anonymous Sith, it just doesn't seem likely to me. Coral was the more strict disciplinarian compared to Aniseya and we all know how the need for control can lead to the dark side (ask Morgoth). So I'm more willing to believe that Coral could be the anonymous Sith more than Aniseyah, who probably died as she was portrayed to be on camera. Also, MT pointed out on Heavy Spoilers that when Mae attacked Osha for wanting to leave the coven to become a Jedi, Coral pulled Mae away and we didn't see Mae again until she went dark and started burning her room up.

The Star Wars galaxy is supposed to have more than a million inhabited worlds. I hope they do something new that's not connected to previously established lore. Does the coven have to be connected to the Sith or the Night Sisters? Why can't different religions and cults develop around the Force? Heck, we have only one planet and there have been thousands of religions throughout history. How many different religions would a galaxy of a million inhabited worlds have? Especially around a mystical power that can be proven to exist.

There are tons of competing religions in the real world, but they take clear inspiration from one another, some claiming to be the next stage of another. Likewise, these witches could be related to the Dathomir witches without being part of that exact culture/ideology.

The comics and books have depicted more than just a couple of Force factions, but it would be cool to see more on-screen. But I think it’s fair to note that civilization in SW has been around considerably longer than our own. I think the Jedi have had a lot more time to homogenize interpretations of the Force, like Catholicism run amok. But I do think there’s still many Force cults out there, we just don’t see them on-screen. But, I agree, it would be cool to see other interpretations on-screen more often.

With a million different worlds, there must be ones that developed religions on their own. Or even if they did branch off from existing religions, they could have developed something completely different. Heck, the Jedi probably developed from an older religion so maybe other beliefs developed from the original religion the Jedi were based on. Not to mention all the ways that the Force could be used that could lead to the creation of different beliefs. Maybe there is a group of Force users who only use their powers in practical ways like finding valuable resources or making good trade deals. Maybe those Force users think the Jedi and Sith are all idiots because using the Force to help the economy of entire planets is a lot more valuable than running around with lightsabers.

I think the mystery sith is coral. She is most likely responsible for destroying her sister's by poison and their home by blowing it up. She knew Mae was gonna be super powerful and used these events to blame the Jedi and then take control of Mae by lying to her and blaming the Jedi. Coral in this story is most likely an apprentice to a stronger sith. Mostly likely it's Tenebris*. Overall the master sith is definitely manipulating coral into doing his bidding by both helping create the twins and then train her for him. Like sidious' real goal was to get to Anakin. Sidious only used dooku to train Anakin and make him stronger knowing that Anakin would replace dooku one day.

The mystery of who the actual Sith Lord is up in the air! I wanna say that it’s one of the Mothers. Either way, the story and this episode in particular was some very compelling storytelling! I’m glad that we’re getting new Star Wars content from the High Republic it’s refreshing, exciting and uncharted stuff. Great breakdown!

Refreshing? There is nothing new in this narrative. It's been done (better) a thousand times before in other stories. Exciting? If you care about the characters, maybe. If you do not care about the characters (they are either confusing or downright stupid) then this show has the excitement levels of paint drying. Uncharted? Well, I'll concede that one to you for sure. I've never seen such a blatant use of Star Wars IP for shitty culture war fan fiction. Disney have shown us tome and time again that they do not respect the IP and that they are putting hundreds of millions of dollars into changing it to their liking. Fair play I suppose, they own it. But it has undoubtedly split the fandom. Star Wars brings more negativity into the world now than community. For that, Disney SHOULD be ashamed but they lack the intellectual honesty for that.

There’s a huge whole in your theory that you didn’t address at all. Why would the coven mother (who you theorize to be the Sith master) allow her daughter to become a Jedi? If she was truly a follower of the Sith, then she would absolutely despise the Jedi and make sure that they were seen as the enemy. Oshea seems to have been given ideas that the Jedi are good and peaceful, and she actively wants to become one. Then the mother allows her daughter to become a Jedi, over becoming a witch, because it’s what she wants. That makes no sense with your theory. You may want to watch that episode again.

Pretty sure plaguis never revealed to Palestine how to create life by manipulating metichlorians. That’s a part of why studious killed him. I 100% agree with you that it was Plagueis and Palps that created Anakin as well, not sure where this "force reaction" theory came from. I totally took the Opera scene as the big twist reveal that Palps was 'Daddy Sheev'. It was presented pretty clearly in RotS, not sure how it could be misunderstood but i think it may have went over the heads of the kids in the audience. Palps is like "Hey you don't have a father, but I learned how to manipulate the MC to create life from my master" all as he winks, smirks and throws knowing glances over at Anakin. We must also take all the clues that came through the previous films ingo account as well. Why was a Sith Lord posing as a senator on literally the next planet over from Tatooine? They leave Naboo and right away must make an emergency landing on Tatooine. Qui gon also says "Had been born in a republic system he would have been identified sooner" Palps may have wanted to keep him a secret or it was part of his plan. But like you said the irony that their creation, Anakin, ultimately brought their destruction is poetic and makes sense for the story.

My tradition is to watch first, judge second. That way, my opinion is informed. I've never hated something "just because" or "it's tradition". That is clearly suboptimal and will lead to you missing out on good stuff. By following this principle, I've found great live-action stuff like Andor, Rogue One and the 1st season of The Mandalorian. IMHO, every other live-action Star Wars product that Disney have produced is very low quality at best, downright insulting at worst.

Same hate the prequels got and they ruined the jaja binks actors life because of childish behaviors and tantrums now it’s gospel,This show isn’t bad is it a perfect 10/10 no , it does not need to be rouge one or andor , it is a 6.5/10 show at best , shows aren’t only for the writing, im old enough to remember starwars has never been about the writing I’m not watching starwars for its drama, I watch for the blasters, cool space sequences the fight scenes, the characters doing cool stuff and the aliens, and getting lost in a fantasy world if you want well written drama watch Grey anatomy or law and order SVU.

I'm just glad my wife didn't walk in on me during that "dance" scene. She gives me enough hell the one or two times a year I watch a wrestling show. I'd never hear the end of it. I think the Sith is Koril. I think somehow this sect is linked to the Nightsisters and Koril is the link to them as well as to the Sith. I think Aniseya was her thrall. It's so Sith like for her to take a back seat and not be the leader of the coven, but work to influence it. It would make a lot more sense because the twins do not feel the same bond with Koril. They obey her, even fear her, but don't love her. They love Aniseya.

Seems like based on the other High Republic texts and what we’ve seen from Ahsoka, Tales of the Empire, etc, about Force witches, that this will likely remain a separate thread of “dark side” practitioners from the Sith. The Sith may have manipulated events to create the clash between the Jedi and Coven that we haven’t seen yet (but will be revealed in future flashbacks). Getting speculative here, but I wonder if we’re going to get a more political sense of what the dark side is-the Jedi casting some rival Force users and practices as being like the Sith, who are more universally reviled. Or maybe practices that use the Force in similar ways to the Sith but aren’t harmful in the way that they are when the Sith do.

I think its Darth Venamis. I think we're seeing his attempts to win over Tenebrous' favor, and that his failure as played out over the course of this show will ultimately lead Tenebrous to take on Plagueis as his true apprentice over Venamis. I definitely don't think it's Plagueis himself, just by looking at the character. Plagueis is a Muun. This mystery Sith clearly is not a Muun because his head is not large enough. Granted, the same could probably be said about Venamis who was a Bith like Tenebrous, but that fact could have been changed.

I think it wasn’t Mother, she was more like Sol as compared to the other Jedi. And Osha views her fondly, but who was the most radical in the coven? Who had the more passionate attachment to the twins? Keril just makes more sense to be so extreme. Especially after the loss of a daughter who she carried and after the loss of a lover/wife or whatever. And in this story, assuming from Oshas view who would have the most anti coven view other than the Jedi, and if that’s true why would she look back on Mother so fondly? TLDR: Keril would harbour so much more hatred towards the Jedi than Mother from this story.

Look at Siths as another religion. Using the dark side of the force doesn't make you a Sith. Look at Darth Maul after the Clone Wars for example. Also, if there are no witnesses alive, he wouldn't know.
