Something I picked up on right away which I'm surprised you didn't mention is that the eclipse of the two moons; one red and one blue; in the sky or Brenock is the overlapping Os we see in the title. There's no way that's a coincidence. Also that the redder, darker moon is eclipsing the bluer, lighter moon, symbolizing Mae trying to block the light of Osha. Another interesting detail that I guarantee will be important later is Mae finished her ascension ceremony, but Osha didn't. This might mean Mae has unique powers just waiting to be unlocked, and I bet the Dark Lord pulling the strings "I'm calling it now, he's Qimir" wants to use that power for himself.

This episode wasn't great but the comments make me think the audience isn't that smart. Obviously something is off with the coven dying like that. You aren't supposed to take this episode at face value , it's still part of the mystery. From Osha's perspective they were just dead and Sol didn't even let her touch her mother to see her body. Mae was left behind and probably could see they weren't killed by the fire. This episode can't be the whole truth because why would Torbin have so much inescapable guilt about a fire and Sol saving a kid? They should have established perspective better, but I think later we will see what Mae really knows and her perspective which will fill in the questions. I personally don't like the tone of the show, it's dealing with dark subject matter but doesn't have enough of a dark tone.

Another thing that is safe to assume is when we get the POV that isnt Osha's we will see the Coven didnt have time to die of smoke inhalation or by burning in the fire. The fire was the Jedi's convenient scapegoat to explain everyone in the Coven dying. Since the true explanation is that they were the ones responsible for killing them. Which certainly would make sense as to why Mae is hunting the 4 Jedi and why those same Jedi were burdened by guilt and took up a solitary existence far removed from the day to day constraints & operations of the Order & Council. Now Sol is kind of the exception of that group since he does teach at the Temple, he is surrounded by any number of Jedi at all times & is very much connected to the day to day rule of the Order & Council. What that could mean is it is not that Sol somehow was able to live with his actions or got over his shame rather he wasn't a participant in the slaughter. He may have been tasked with getting to the girls why the other 3 distracted the Coven. He may have been in the dark and kept in the dark since again the fire would been a highly convenient event so they didnt have to explain the deaths to Sol who likely wouldn't have been okay with keeping that secret. Now in the first episode & second we do learn that for some time Sol had guilt over Mae's death and what happened with the fire. Yet I think his guilt is over his observing the girls then reporting what he observed to Master Indara. Then insisting both girls being tested. Which led to Mae's fear of being taken and the subsequent fire. Without that observation the chain of events that followed bringing his observations to the other Jedi he may have believed that Coven & Mae wouldn't have died. I also don't believe if Sol had a physical hand in slaughtering the Coven he would have attempted to make Osha his Padwan and train her. He doesn't seem like the kind of Jedi that would actively lie to Osha her entire life for his own sake.
@dr.stephenstrange84717 ай бұрын
I think the Jedi killing the coven would make sense to why Tobin felt so much guilt to the extent that he is willing to kill himself if it means Mae will forgive him.

I replied to many comments but I'll just make my own post. THIS HAS TO BE JEDI MIND TRICK, I believe they wiped Osha's memories. The jedi would not feel so guilty if they were just trying to save osha, Mae would not be out to kill those 4. In the ending scene master Torbin has scares on his face that were not even present in the flashback. Mae survived but in the flash back she clearly fell to her death. Also Mae in the beginning seeing her sister and not showing any hate towards her that this flashback shows is very contradicting and she seemed puzzled at Osha trying to shoot her. she doesnt know Ohsa thinks she tried to kill her and she caused the death of her family, but it was the jedi and she is out for revenge for their crimes. Biggest one of all, we know this power exist is because mae's assistant referenced it in episode 2 fearing the jedi would wipe his memory, just like Darth Revan's from Knights of the old republic. Also the dead witches in the room have no burns, no cuts or anything showing how they died. I believe the witches rebelled or the jedi attacked the witches for breaking republic law and they defended themselves but perished. There is much more evidence just in the first 3 episodes alone but this is what I believe, still have no idea what this sith lord is in here for.

Thanks to Disney's inconsistent quality plus the extra preemptive criticism from professional haters, my expectations for this one were set low. But 3 episodes in and I'm still engaged by the characters and not yet frustrated by storytelling choices... Feels like a Star Wars, from a new point of view. Relieved they aren't just resting on their laurels of diverse casting -- which is cool to see front and center in this galaxy.

i was gonna say that this was stupid. but the more i think about it.... why was sol in such a hurry to get out? could be cause the building was falling apart. but could be that someone else attacked the coven when the jedi were gonna take the kids away. and sol and the others were trying to get out alive. maybe the guilt they shared was that they couldnt stop the other bad guys from killing the coven? or its because the jedi started the fire. one of the two

Your analysis of this episode, is by far the best I've seen from any channel. Even more so than some star wars channels that I highly respect. It's telling a story that will be winding around as it progresses. Perspective driven. Best of the 3 so far. The majority of these channels game the algorithm to make revenue. That's how it's played. I'll wait til the end to judge the overall.

“The force is Female” what bs is that line. Then the main actor is a racist as-well. Nothing wrong with gays or lesbians. But all this lgbtq narrative ruins the whole point of the show. @@Jorizzle22ill give it a shot, personally I don’t care what the sexual orientation is of the director of the characters. I’m a huge Star Wars fan but I don’t watch cartoons/animated series or read books My issue with this series so far is that the acting is flat, the plot details often make no sense to me and feel like it’s just super convenient plot armor to move the story along. Examples: You just caught a suspected murderer of Jedi, why would you put her on a prisoner transport ship unescorted? Did the Jedi not have space on their ship for one other body? Wouldn’t you leave one person at least to interrogate her? When Mae went to kill meditation guy and failed, the Jedi were aware of the murder attempt but literally did nothing to prevent the assassin from returning. Again, not even a guard in the room with him? Why? There’s so much stuff like that all throughout the series that I’m like…wait…what? My thought isn’t, “oh this story doesn’t make sense because the writer is queer and the protagonist is queer”, it’s “I don’t understand why any of this is happening” Last but most significant for me, the dialogue, in my opinion, is really really bad. I dunno maybe it’s because I’m biased because I’m a latent homophobe, I guess anything is possible. But I’m pretty sure I don’t like the show because of the plot, the acting, and the dialogue.

I’m beginning to think that the reason the Jedi Council said that Anakin was too old was because of Osha. Oh and maybe Mom is the one in the mask. Remember the black eyes? Osha and Mae suddenly had a connection after years apart. In the 1st vision Mae’s eyes turned black…..So maybe Mom “survived “, has continued training Mae, and uses her to get revenge on the Jedi, while trying to luring Osha back.
@tooslow40657 ай бұрын
no. cause we already know the mother. dont need her in a mask. who would she be hiding from? makes no difference to the jedi if she is alive. she'd get hunted down like all darkside users.

@@tooslow4065 yes, we know the mother. We also know that she uses her abilities to bind people which turns their eyes black. For me that means one of the witches push the vision to Osha. Who better?

@@oldschoolde5183 could mean ANY darkside user could do it. we dont know. if it was one of the witches, then we would see them. no need for them to be disguised. storytellers only hide an identity if its someone that needs to stay a mystery. we already know who the assassin is. we already know why she wants to kill jedi. the only way this is a mystery show is if the master is someone we've either already seen, or will see.

@@tooslow4065 I'm not saying I think it's her, but considering she's presumed dead by the Jedi, and is/was the leader of a taboo sect of the force, it's not unreasonable that she'd want to stay hidden. Traveling in a galaxy predominantly policed by the Jedi would be much harder if they know who to look for. It also acts as a layer of security against the acolytes. Jedi extract information on your master if you don't have any.

Thank you. Thank you for a sane, sound, and well thought out summary. After hearing people crap all over this episode, it's nice to get some plausible theories and verifiable similarities to other Star Wars lore. I only had one problem with this episode: if there's only 8 episodes, don't spend too much time on backstory without filling in blanks. Other than that, I got a major Jasmin wanting out of the palace vibe with Osha. I have zero issues with a shunned Coven of witches that have their own take on the Force. I would expect nothing else from a cult of a bunch of mixed species. Well done!

I'll try using my actual film brain, this episode didn't do enough to make me sympathetic to Osha. I like your theory that there will be multiple perspectives but if this was Oshas perspective I don't understand why she wouldn't want to be a witch. Only Mae and Mother are shown doing something outright cruel with magic and her parents clearly love her and at least pretend to listen to her. She doesn't want to be Mae 2.0 fine, but its not like being a Jedi would give her any more individuality. They never say witches can't leave the comound once they're fully confirmed. Why does the 8 year old choose complete strangers over her parents? It's not like Anakin who was actually enslaved or Luke who was in danger and his family was already gone. Her life was fine, her sister was just clingy and she was bored. I don't hate this show but I'm not sure I I'm rooting for anyone here. Osha was willing to abandon her family who, as far as she knows, are not evil.
