The binary sun theme is always in a minor key. However, when the complete piece is played, there are some sections which feel like they are in a major key. That is because, like in many other film scores, this theme is written in the dorian key, which is very similar to the minor key but raises the 6th step by a semitone to typically create a sense of mystery and evolution.
@ninadefilippo8130Ай бұрын
Its not really a dorian mode. The chord progression includes a major IV chord to give that sense of hope, but that chord is definitely out of the key on purpose to tell the audience that somehting new and hopeful is happening. The harmony of this music is very functional and goes to a Major 5 which of course has a ^7. You can look at the march versions of the theme - they put iv64 and V65 passing chords in the accompaniment. This harmony is not modal. I think what is noticable about the difference in the skeleton crew force theme compared to the origional is just the high instuments play flurishes that outline b3, 5 and b7 which makes thte the melody sound major. So ryan maybe was on to something just the opposite lol.

THIS IS THE NEW CAPTAIN EO! Every character is reimagined except of course for Neel (kinda but not really 😂). Wim is Captain EO, Neel is Hooter, the 2 girls are the conjoined aliens that’s why they’re always shown side by side, one has the futuristic “glasses” on and the other is the taller head strong “leader”, Sm33 is Major Domo with the rat crawling in and out of his eye is technically “Minor Domo”. Sm33’s left big eye and hollow right eye is a reference to Major Domos original look, and the shields that Sm33 produce are a nod to Major Domos transformation into a drum kit in Captain EO, where he forms the same discs but they are respectively a bass drum and a Tom head or snare in the original.

The flying gerbils aren't random aliens to add to the quirkiness of the pirate port. That's Fuzzball from Captain EO. And Neel seems to be the same species as Hooter from Captain EO, not an Ortolan. Are they retroactively canonizing Captain EO into Star Wars? I wouldn't be surprised if one of E.T.'s species shows up, just like in Phantom Menace.

@Vader47000Ай бұрын
@@jasonpeacock9735 Well, Neel certainly looks closer to Hooter than an Ortolan, the big difference being Hooter has a bunch of blowholes on his nose (and a few other cosmetic ornamentations) that could easily be chalked up to intra-species variation or medical alteration. (Or something that develops later). So yes, they are different, but I wouldn't say "significantly." Of course the only reason the comparison would even come up is because of the Fuzzball cameo. Without that there's no hint of any connection to Captain EO and no reason to compare Neel to Hooter at all.
@josephkyleroganАй бұрын
