I particularly loved in the finale that it's still possible to debate whether Jod Na is good or evil. From the children's perspective, he is clearly the antagonist, but it is very clearly shown that the children have no connection to money. They walk on it as if it's nothing, while Jod Na had to fight for everything throughout his life and sees life in money, something the children always took for granted. In a second season, he could easily be portrayed as the good guy due to the consequences of the finale and the fight for the wealth of at attin.

Mando went into a hole for about 2 minutes while a battle took place, he didn't actually live in a hole like Jod. And Mando stayed with his saviours and grew up with them, strongly believing in their ways, whereas Jod spent some time with his saviour before going a very different way with his life. Valid point, but I see more of a similarity to Han Solo, who while not force sensitive and not having gone down as dark a path as Jod, had still become deeply cynical and distrustful as a young person, and pursued a life outside the law and regular society. And, although even more of a stretch, there's also a similarity to Anakin's story, who chose the ultimate dark path after some really traumatic experiences. Jod didn't go quite that far, but he was clearly tempted by it. He's sort of a mash-up between Anakin and Han. Of course that's ultimately what Star Wars is about, people choosing between darker and lighter paths in life, and the forces that operate on them and influence their decisions, including, for some The Force, and how, for most, it's never 100% one or the other, other than Palps, who is really the only completely and irredeemably evil being in the entire franchise.

I really enjoyed Skeleton Crew. I liked that Wim's dad wasn't talented at a lot of things, but then was like "I'm a level 7 systems coordinator." When 33 said the crash into the school roof was one of his best landings, I laughed out loud. ▪︎The animated credits were beautiful.

I cheered out loud when the last diorama in the credits was the crew being added to the legends.

The moment when Jod pierces the red light of the supervisor, the supervisor says in Palpatine voice, "What are you doing?" Reminiscent of "Do it!"

Absolutely love this show and hope we get a S2. It’s refreshing to see how much people enjoyed it. No overly negative comments or trying to ruin it for others. That’s how Star Wars should be.

The way the pirate ship was framed when the pirates took power was a similar 😮match shot to the command tower showing us that the pirates were now the ones in control.

Bonjj Phalfa is a double Harrison Ford reference - not only is his name inspired by Ford's 'American Graffiti' character, but the actor who plays Bonjj looks just like Ben Solo!
@blairhoughton791812 сағат бұрын
Why was Bonjj there? He'd just been passed by four kids laying down plasma tracks, and there were spaceships attacking the town, and he's just sitting there like he was waiting for his radiator to cool down...

2:10 - I'll rebut with: "Truly wonderful the mind of a child, is." - Yoda. 3:20 - Ryan, I don't remember your reviews of The Acolyte... so I may have to go back and re-watch them. However, how you described how you could relate to the kids and their situation is exactly how I felt about Osha and Mae. I could write an entire thesis on that topic. But, in short, I had siblings that I didn't learn were alive until I was a young adult. I lost my parents before I was old enough to remember them, and the "big family" I'd had as a small child "up and vanished" in a fairly short time, never to be heard from again. Those were aunts, uncles, and cousins, who all disconnected from those who raised me. I'll never really know what happened there. I think that I was able to connect with The Acolyte where many (or most?) could not, is because of those unique familial experiences that I had. Not to say I didn't connect with Skeleton Crew (I did)... it was just in a different way. 5:30 - I think you're also forgetting the Master Control Program from the Disney movie "Tron"....... Also, give credit to Steven Fry, because before I knew it was him voicing that droid.... I thought maybe Ian McDiarmid had snuck in there to do it, because that thing sounded a LOT like Palpatine! 10:05 - Tassels on the handlebars is one thing..... but where would they put the baseball cards given that there are no wheels with spokes in them? 10:35 - OR.... Wim is taking his first "Jedi Trial"....... think about it...... 11:05 - Not "teach" her mom how to misbehave.... but REMIND her how to misbehave. Remember, all parents were obnoxious kids once themselves! 12:25 - Sounds a bit like Ezra Bridger, doesn't he......

I hope other people also picked up on this: they all take the placement test to find out their job in life. Wim looks up to see the Blockade Runner and seems like he's just decided his dream job is to be a pilot for the New Republic. Not sure if they were in the Testing Center when this happens, as well, but that would make it even more poetic

If they're just printing money, they could do that without At Attin. And this money isn't money any more. It's collectible coins, like dubloons or sesterces. Except there's so much of it it could be made into jacket snaps economically.

Part of me really wants another season where the Kids are regularly running off and getting into Mischief with 33, who’s more “supervisor for the kids so the parents don’t worry” than Pirate

Great review. You've made the comparison to communist utopias a couple times in relation to At Attin, but that's not communism. Not actual communism anyway. With the devotion to the leader and the whole society working to prop up the entire galactic economy...That's more akin to idealized space fascism with a benevolent dictator.

Also based off of Jod's explanation and the fact he wasn't taken in by the Empire and turned into a Inquisitor, my guess is his master was killed by either pirates or civilians that bought into the whole Jedi are the enemy thing

I find it hard to believe there was just 1 town on the planet
@jordanbrandon8110 сағат бұрын
That's more so an annoyance with Star Wars. Where entire planets have populations of seemingly 1 town/ city and only a few hundred thousand people at most. Maybe a few outside farms. Most planets you see a city and that's really it. And the planet population seems to be relatively nothing. More so like each planet can be seen as closer to a town or city. So a solar system would be like a state or province. It'd always something that feels so odd to me with Star Wars. The shockingly low population across the galaxy despite seemingly hundreds of species able to travel across the galaxy
@Mobile_Chernobyl9 сағат бұрын
I don’t think there was only one town. That was just the capital, where the ship would autopilot fly to. There was a quick line of there are thousands of vaults like this, making me thing every town had a vault. But who knows?

I still cannot remember any of Jude Law's many character names... my shortfall suppose, but still, he is going to be a key link into padawans during Order66, and I greatly desire to see Jude return in S2, get ONE name, have that character develop, and have progressions and regressions of him throughout

The 'Old Republic' mentioned here is in reference to the Republic that came before the New Republic. The mentions of the Great Work was Chancellor Soh's Starlight Beacon, and it would have required an immense amount of credits to build something like that, and they likely built planetary defenses around places like At-Attin as a defense against the Nihil's path engines. The gold and white lightsaber kinda confirms it too, because it is heavily of that era. So basically, At-Attin began operations in the High Republic Era during the fight against the Nihil, while various Republic worlds were under threat, and at some point, for some reason, it was forgotten, but it was just sort of stuck on the same mailing list until the Republic transitioned into the Empire. Because there is no fall of the Republic between the High Republic and prequel era Republic, it's just more of an organizational change where the Jedi became more intertwined with the Republic as we started to see in The Acolyte.

At the end when wim looks up to the block aid runner, I seen it as wim finally realising who the “good” guys actually are. Than in season 2 he’ll find the republic aren’t aren’t as good as he believes. Like the republic are good but all leading bodies of power have some form of corruption somewhere.

In my head, cannon Jod was trained by Katooni (of the padawan arch in "Clone Wars"), who escaped 66 and taught Jod as best she could with her limited knowledge To make ends meet and stay out of reach of the Empire, she takes up with her old pal Hondo's crew, where Jod learns the pirate life. Then, either a stronger crew or a munity takes over and exiles Hondo (who is on his own when he meets Ezra in "Rebels"). They press Katooni and Jod to join them, and when Katooni refuses, she is overwhelmed by numbers and killed while Jod is forced to watch before eventually agreeing to join the new crew.
