Probably some time spent with Scotty as well. No way 7 people can effectively crew a Galaxy class ship without some serious automation lol. Scotty probably helped recover the saucer section, and perhaps help Geordi do a little restoration work. "I dinna expect to take us into combat ya know!" Engineers do tend to learn from their mistakes and share those lessons with fellow engineers. I hope we get a quick line about that in the finale lol.

Small tidbit during an episode of voyager titled “dark frontier” seven was taken back to the Borg queen where she was told “traditional assimilation” didn’t work on humanity and the Borg would use a virus that they would use to infect humanity slowly and by the time they figured out, it would be too late. In Best of Both Worlds II, they mention that there have been DNA changes in Picard's parietal lobe, the same part of the brain removed from the stolen body of Picard. Also, Jack seeing the vines in the transporters in one of the earlier episodes foreshadowed he was sensing the code in the transport beams. The red door could be a callback to First Contact and the red door Picard walks through in the final act to confront the Borg Queen.

The ships have more references, but the two that stand out are the Oberon and the Gilgamesh for call backs to TNG. In Time's Arrow, when the crew follows the Ophidian's back in time to save Data, they are performing a Midsummer Night's Dream as their cover, Riker is playing Oberon in the play with Ms. Carmichael. The Gilgamesh, references the classic "Darmok" episode where Picard is trying to make headway with the Tamarian Captain, played by Paul Winfield... who was also the Captain of the USS Reliant - seen in screen as well - in Wrath of Khan. AND... there is a USS Clark off to the right which might be the Clark Terrell named after that same captain??

One Easter Egg you missed is that as Shaw is dying he says to 7/9 "Im not the Captain you are" which is what Pike says to Spock before he beams over to the Romulan ship and also what was said to Kirk's father when that Captain beamed over to the Romulan ship at the beginning of the movie.

Was it just me or did Picard actually look and sound like the Picard from TNG once he was on the bridge of D? The tone, the tug of his shirt when he sat in the chair, to the word “Engage!”

Seeing so much detail and attention given to the Enterprise bridge set, and the lack of cutting corners demonstrates the amount of love poured into her return. Seasons 1 and 2 were ok, but this might as well be TNG Season 8, and I love it!

Off topic i wish i could give Doug a treat he does such a good job in these videos! But god i cried when i saw the bridge of the enterprise D. I first watched TNG with grandpa at 5 years old and he got me a Data action figure I’d bring with me everywhere. Watching every one gather on the bridge made me feel like i was seeing old friends. Just wished my grandpa was here to see this too

In the list of ships, there's also the USS Trumbull, likely after Douglas Trumbull, the SFX Supervisor on ST:TMP and 2001. There's the USS [Zephram] Cochrane, after the inventor of warp drive. Also, the USS Venture, named of course, after Doctor Thaddeus S. "Rusty" Venture.

I love the small scenes. The escape to the shuttle is great; Riker says they'd be taken over, and Data responds: "Shuttles don't connect to the new system. They're autonomous". When Seven said: "The Robot is Right. It's the only way." I totally cracked up. Seven says it to Riker totally ignoring that Data's offended and Georgi's shocked. It's exactly what Seven would say, or to use an oxymoron, Seven's the master of pointedly blunt statements. Seven never met Data, including this most human version. Being ex-Borg means she views biology and technology differently.

The only thing I noticed that you didn't mention was that when Picard and Dr, Crusher are standing at the window as seen from outside the ship, lamenting losing Jack to the Borg, it's reminiscent of the shot of Picard standing alone at the window at the end of Best of Both Worlds part two after returning from his Borg ordeal.

Loved this episode more than expected. The "what's going on with Jack" kind of dragged out one ep too long so I was worried the reveal would be a let down but it wasn't. SO happy to hear Majel's voice but kind of cranky Shaw died... unless.... at the last second Seven injected nanites that repaired his injuries. I would love to see him in Star Trek Legacy.

I am kind of so-so on how many Easter eggs they drop on a weekly basis for us fans, but I was very very emotional about seeing the D back in action. In a lot of way, the D was the main character of TNG and they did it a disservice by “killing it off” for the movies. To see it rejoin the cast for the last episode is just so great

So glad to hear Majel Barrett as the computer again. I've been so annoyed they haven't used her voice seeing as it was widely reported she recorded enough phonetic material before she passed to properly synthesize her voice for that purpose. It's unclear if they used that tech here or just archival recordings.

@ScreenCrush : don’t forget the way Data looked back at Picard when he was receiving the order to chart a course for earth - it was the same exact way he would look back in TNG. Picards tunic pull. Also, how Riker and Troi were sitting (Troi hands folded, Riker with left hand on his lap) was reminiscent of how some TNG episodes would close; even how Picard stared straight ahead reminded me of old TNG episode closes.

Hands down trekkers... This season of Picard is the BEST ever of the ENTIRE Star Trek universe! I am so loving this series! Wasn't sure with the first season of Picard but the 2nd grabbed me because of the Borg and now... NOW well DAMN... ! This is Star Trek re-imagined and brought to life on a massive scale of BOOM. I grew up with Kirk and loved TOS... then along came TNG.. took a bit because it wasn't Kirk, Spock and the gang but then Picard, Riker and the new gang had it! Fast forward from DS9, Voyager (I'll give Enterprise a mention) , Discovery (nice shot at a decent reboot, Lower Decks (bloody funny) and now Picard season 3 BOOM!

I had said in another thread that what the Borg did here is similar to what was proposed in the TNG episode I, Borg when they were going to infect Hugh with an unsolvable geometric algorithm which would essentially drive the Borg insane. This was similar in which the Changelings infected all transporters with this gene that got into anyone who used a transporter.
