+Leah James It's so comforting to see these other replies here from the likes of kingking and Talga... I pretty much can't stand Nick Mundy, I am continually utterly baffled that apparently so much of the audience seems to have such love for him. This fight here (and mind you I'm not even finished it yet), this is like a perfectly fitting example of why he's so annoying. He actually seems sort of troll-ish, now I think about it. He so often comes up with absolutely preposterous, out of left field picks or arguments for things, but then even his usual style and attitude of his argument making I find so tiring. And then the perfect cherry on top of this, that the dude is sincerely as massive a fan of wrestling as he is. *sigh*... yes, of course he is...
@LeahJames6169 жыл бұрын
+BadPennyFilms I mean, I agree with you ( I would have used nicer words). But I honestly believe that when Nick is there, it's because everyone else was busy. Two arguments that could've helped Andy with his Two Towers argument: 1. You can see how the rings starts to corrupt Frodo slowly, whereas in the first movie, he would only experience the occasional hypnosis from carrying the ring too long and in the third movie, you only see the result of the ring's corruption and influence over Frodo. 2. You can see the personal struggle between good and evil in Smeagle/Golem, as his good side fights to be free from his evil side, whereas in the first movie, it's mainly Golem and in the third movie, Golem had regained his influence over Smeagle(which you see happening in the second film).

+Max Kogan Also, in the Two Towers you can see Frodo realize that there is no going back for him, that the darkness and corruption in him will not go away and his life as he new it was over and the reason he wants to trust Gollum so much is because he thinks that by finding redemption in Gollum there is still hope in himself.

Lord of The Rings is (To me) the best fantasy franchise out of all of the choices. The atmosphere, the approach, the lore and the realism. All of it put together blows Star Wars out of the water.
@dfkfgjfg8 жыл бұрын
I understand that everyone has their own opinion but you have to admit that Game of Thrones can match up to Lord of the Rings because it is almost like a modern reimagining that feels more real yet you can love both however, Star Wars has always felt so cheesy and the characters are so cliched.
@justaguyyy8 жыл бұрын
Tyrion Lannister Yes the political approach that GoT has to it is amazing yet I feel that LoTR has a more adventurous side to it, while also withholding the political standard. And plus I factor my choice a lot on lore/history and compared to GoT, Star Wars, Star Trek and Harry Potter the only one that comes close is Star Trek. But yes all in all Game of Thrones is a beautiful told story and a great world in general. Even though I prefer the show more than the books (Which you wont hear much)

Everyone is not "A fan of Star Wars" Just putting it out there that you can be a proud geek and not be a blind follower. I saw Star Wars when it first came out and thought it was amazing for the time. Empire is a good middle, Return is basically the first movie with teddy bears. Then you have the prequels. So 2 good movies out of 6. Anyone else out there or am I truly alone?

46:27 - watching "Sixth Sense" again, you see that he, at first, is fearful of Bruce Willis's character, not because he thinks his mom hired someone to try to help him, but because he knows what he really is. I think it was brilliant the way both possibilities played out, but he warms up to him, enabling him to do likewise for others at the end.

Just to be perfectly honest, I think Elijah Wood is one of the best actors I've seen to date. Most of his acting, I think, really relies very much on his eyes. He's able to convey extreme emotions with them. I think that's why he eyes are talked about so much. And they are gorgeous.

They completely forgot to mention how absolutely stunning the worldbuilding in Fellowship was. Nowhere else did you get a sense of the absolutely MASSIVE scale of the world they were in, from seeing the vastness of Moria, to the two giant statues guarding the river, to the homely quirkiness of the Shire and the sort of darker aspect of that in Bree, to the mystique of Lothlorien, et al. The other two had some moments of the same caliber, eg riding into Minas Tirith, lighting of the beacons, Minas Morgul blowing its top, the end shot of The Two Towers (which has to be my favorite standalone shot in any movie), etc, but never quite as perfect or as many.

Fellowship is indeed the best LotR. Elijah has the same opinion as me :)
@Ripolt9 жыл бұрын
+FreakieFan It's still my favorite movie. I just prefer the adventurous vibe the first film gives off to the more epic scale of the last two. Same with the books also, Id love to see the scene with Tom Bombadill and the Barrow Whights on screen though I'd rather they leave the TLOTR alone and don't reboot it. The actors fit their roles perfectly, the only way I'd be happy seeing a new take on it would be a TV show that covers more of the book than the movies did.
@FreakieFan9 жыл бұрын
Ripolt Totally agree with you, i prefer The Fellowship over the last 2, by a long shot IMO :P And who the hell is trying to reboot tLotR? Those movies cant be rebooted and should be left alone. It cant be surpassed
@mountaindewslave9 жыл бұрын
+Lt. Col. Frank Slade 100% agree. the beauty and mystery of the first film is like perfect. you see a lot but what you don't see is almost more valuable. things like Gandalf running to the white city to read text about the ancient ring, the mysterious Balrog demon in Moria, how gorgeous and (oddly?) relatable and homely the Shire is I feel like Fellowship is by far the most complete film. the Two Towers ends with a bit of a cliffhanger (i.e. 'the war for Middle Earth now begins'), and The Return of the King debatably has some moments that went wrong from the books (the men of the mountain ghosts ehhh). probably the biggest thing in The Fellowship of the Ring's favor (IMO) is the insanely well done pacing and build up. by the time you get to Rivendel (or later Moria) the viewer feels like they've actually journeyed around Middle Earth some the personal experience was less there in the other films. also I would argue the intro to The Fellowship with Cate Blanchett narrating is possibly one of the best intros in film of all time
@FreakieFan9 жыл бұрын
Derek Woods I agree with you completely, tLotR is one of my all time favorite films (i do count them as one :p and i love all of them, but i prefer Fellowship )

@mattbritzius5708 жыл бұрын
DutchDread The mithril would definitely confer an advantage, if they were armed. If it was hand to hand combat, different story. Plus, Merry and Pippin both spent more time learning to fight and fighting than Frodo (Merry with Rohan and Pippin with Gondor).
@peanutgallery1238 жыл бұрын
+Yung Brizzy But Gollum/Smeagol can still bite your finger off - he doesn't need to be drunk or have weapons to be dangerous. Not to mention his ability to scale walls, camouflage, see in the dark and hunt fish with his bear hands. In the book, Gollum killed massive goblins/dwarves on his own in - what's to stop him from killing a few softy halflings?
@Serch_YB278 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure Tom Bombadil is not a hobbit.
@jonsaw.4907 жыл бұрын
No he's not. Also I don't think he would win, because Tom Bombadil is (as I see it) a lot like Sam, the ring doesn't affect him as much because there's a lot of other things he cherishes more than power. So I think finally it comes down to Frodo and Smeagol, because the ring has mainly affected these two and is a strong motivator, the most important factor in this battle imo. And I do think Gollum would win, unless he makes a mistake. Because angry Frodo under the influence of the ring is just the kind of person who needs just one mistake to take advantage of and finish you (after all, he is way stronger than he thinks he is - in every sense of the term). So I pretty much agree with everything they say^^

I cannot believe I haven't seen this episode until today. The laughs kept coming, the panel was terrific, the arguments were consistently on point without becoming overbearing, and Elijah Wood may very well be more entertaining *talking about* movies than in them--a very impressive feat in and of itself. I would love to see Elijah back on Movie Fights because this is easily one of the best fights the series has produced, and he is quite possibly a contender for Dan's title. Even Dan mentioned he felt as though he was fighting himself.
