It's not the "not screaming while birthing" part, but the "keeping the baby from crying loud enough for the monsters to hear" part that is the most challenging There was a whole generation of women giving birth in the soviet era when if they were too annoying for the medical staff they were bullied and abused. That meant not making too much noise. Back than you were not allowed anyone with you till it's over. It's only way into the 90's when the whole initiative of giving birth without abuse got friction. You could bring someone with you, which meant a more respectful atmosphere, better support and help and made all the difference for the young mothers who didn't have to rely on bribing half of the staff or being married to some important party leader or general.

Yeah. As much as I like this movie, that was a pretty big goof. I usually rationalize it by saying that these two people who are obviously attracted to each other have no one else to help them cope with not having sex. They have no friends around, they clearly wouldn’t discuss it with their children, which just leaves each other, whom they’re both (pardon my gutter talk) horny for. But even then I concede it’s a pretty weak argument.

Women's health doctor here, about the 4:30 critique of the birth--actually, you CAN give very quick birth if you're a multip! Multiparous women--women who've had multiple pregnancies end in birth--have looser cervixes in average and can sometimes progress so quickly you don't even have time to change into a hospital gown. So giving bathtub birth quickly with a monster outside can absolutely work, especially if she was already dilating (some women with high pain tolerances will not really stop for their contractions until they're quite dilated). A primip (first-timer) I'd never believe that fast, but for a multip, it totally depends on the woman!

PG-13. Literally, that's it. There's an entire crowd of Christians who won't watch R films, but wanna be considered "cool", and they legit think watching horror movies as Christians will make them "cool", so they watch all the PG-13 "horror" movies. Unsurprisingly, it's a very short list with very few good titles (Jaws and Sixth Sense pretty much stand alone).
